RANT Alert - I'm upset with Surefire for giving me several lights that have failed.

"Illumination tools and accessories designed to meet the demanding needs of high-risk professionals. Tested and relied upon in the world's harshest conditions."

Straight from their E-mail response.... where they also asked me to pay for return shipping.

I've had a G2X quit working before l and also an X300Ultra (with less than 200 rounds of 9mm over it) not sure why on each.

Just had my 6PX Defender Quit working. Again, no idea why.

Surefire wants me to pay for return shipping. No thanks...

On the other hand, I've only had one issue with my Chinese made Streamlight lights (it was a ProTac 2L, and streamlight sent me a new tail cap for free with no questions asked). Guess I'll just stick with them and not get stuck paying ridiculous prices for Surefire stuff that's going to fail me when I need it out on patrol.

Sorry if the post is jumbled.... I'm just super pissed.

I know Surefire has great products, but apparently I've been getting "Friday evening" flashlight builds all the time. They keep breaking on me! And I don't abuse them.

All of these lights failed within 1 years use. Two of them failed within 7 months use.

Would like to hear your experiences. On the other hand, I had 3 more X300Ultra's that were perfect.... but with a track record like this, I've made the switch to streamlight.

I have 3 TLR-1HL's, 2 Stinger LED HL's, 3 stylus pro's (my favorite), a polystinger DS LED, and that ProTac 2L that had a problem with the tail cap (And streamlight sent me a new one for free with no questions asked)

Again, I'd like to hear your experiences. I'm sure a bunch of you guys have good things to say about Surefire. But I don't, and the fact that they turned up their nose when I asked for a new light kinda of made it a lot worse.

I've had a Nitecore MH25 on my belt for the last 3 or 4 years. I ran it for a while on Energizer 18650's and some of the Nitecore offerings. It hasn't missed a beat so far.Micro USB charging if it goes dead on patrol. I carry a Nitecore P12 as an EDC light also. Got both of them pretty wet at times too. Strange enough, the MH25 rides in a Surefire holder, which the clip breaks every few months. Surefire sent me 3 or 4 last time it broke.

We also have Streamlight Stinger DS HPL's as pool lights. I grab one at the start of the shift and use this as a primary light. It's a bit bulky but I just slip it in my back pocket. It would work well on a flashlight ring too.

I have an older stinger DS that I keep in my duty bag, as a backup to my backup.

I can't say enough about Steamlights customer service. I've broken the battery door/switch on my TLR twice and they sent me a new one, no questions asked.

My agency "gave" us Strion LEDs several years ago, which turned out to be one of my favorite and most used duty flashlights ever. Even though it was a mini, its performance(brightness/battery live/trouble-free) was better than my full-sized SL-20 incandescents.

I'm not an SL fanboy, but with my history with them, I'd probably look at them first before other brands if I was back in the market for one.

"gave"?

We were promised a pay raise after a long fight for one, but it didn't come as promised. Shortly thereafter, we received those Strion LEDs individually a long with a nylon windbreaker "raid" jacket, they said were ours. So we all looked at it as we paid for those items with our nonexistent pay raise.

Well.... my light has been there almost a month with no reply.

I guess they’re really busy this time of year.

It’s a 6PX Defender...

Not a $400 scout light.

So I guess it falls low on the list....

Surefire, Sig, Kimber, Remington... No longer bring the reliability and value they once had. Outsourcing, cutting corners in materials and quality assurance always bring the house down.

Whats dissapointing, is public saftey and lives depend on these products. These are not disposable burner phones and flatpanel displays... Firearms and related products should be held to much higher manufacturing standards instead of profit margins.
