I took out some of my Gen 1s for a photo for a GT member. While I was at it I thought that I'd post the family for you all thinking that some of you might enjoy it. The lighting is not the best (terrible, sorry) but it's spur of the moment and I might not have time again for a while. So, here it is in the posts below...
(I have the manuals for them all. They are kept separately in archival storage.)
That is something else! I would give my left one for one of you long slides! Come to think of it---i don't need or want any more kids. Have a use for two of them?!!!!!?
I am absolutely serious in saying that while I was setting up the Gen 1s for the photo I was thinking "Man, I really have to get that G19 Gen 1 - 5 photo up" for you. The 19 is taking FOREVER! The shop got their commercial guns a few weeks ago. I got a call over a week ago that my BL G5 17 was in but the 19 was not. It's supposed to be in this week. Once in, it has to be shipped to my local FFL. I'll get that pic up the day that it arrives
The only one that I purchased new was the non-PB Gen 1. It is a BZ prefix which I purchased new in 1988. It was my fist Glock. I did send it in for the upgrade. It was my main shooter and, at the time, who knew how iconic that these would become so why not upgrade? I still have the the correspondences w/Glock about the upgrade.
There is an extensive thread about the 19. This is it:
I recently started collecting Gen 2's, and have a small but growing collection of vintage Glocks myself. Stupid question for the day.....what's meant by "PB" or "Non PB"?
So I'm guessing I won't see that on my Glock 19's....
Also, I've noticed on one of my Gen 2 Glock 19's, that the recoil guide rod is hollow, much like the ones in the picture you just posted. Is that a sign of an early Glock, or? I only ask because I just picked up a very nice old PD marked Gen2 Glock 22 (Kansas City, Kansas PD) and it has the solid guide rod similar to what I have in my Gen 3's....
The PB guns ended around the AM serial number prefix.
The first G19s were AN. No G19s are PBs.
The guide rods evolved as you surmised.
Good luck with your collecting!!
