Pretty cool. That said I'd not pay too much for it. Likely tons in Austria. I think it would be cool to own but not for much more than a regular Glock - at least to me. It's not rare, just rare here.

If the slide said 17A I'd be more inclined to try for one for the collection.

Thanks for the correction.

I just found the listing a few minutes ago and was wondering if anybody else had ever heard of them. Thanks for making the post!
It isn't all that different from a 17, but it IS still unique because it's the only way you'd have a numbers matching 4.7'' barrel. Like the auction says, "For the Glock collector who needs one of each..."

Yeah, I was in Australia last year and checked one out at a LGS. Also wanted to note that I'm the crazy bastard that bought this one. Had a BUNCH of emails back and forth with the dealer. Actually amusing that the end of the auction was right in the middle of an optometrist appointment. I was glued to the phone....Looking forward to taking delivery.

The only ones I'm aware of are:
17A - Gen 3 G17 with 4.7" barrel
17AG4 - Gen 4 G17 with 4.7" barrel
17AO - Gen 3 G17 with threaded barrel in olive drab

They're importers. They had a customer that was shipping another gun into the states, so they added this one to the same shipment. They did have to mark the gun with their name, which is stamped on the bottom of the trigger guard. I asked if they were gonna do more, and the shipping and import costs were fairly prohibitive, so they'd have to have someone who really wanted one before they'd do it.

Yeah, I was really expecting it to go up much higher, considering how high it got with several hours left.

It says that they're importers. Unlike the 25 and 28 there is nothing stopping the importation of these A guns - other than price and hassle.

Grest info. Thanks! Do u have any others?
No - that's it. I'm open to the rest, and until this 17A came along, didn't think I'd ever see any here. But I'm also still holding out for a Gen 1 17 PB and a Gen 1 19, and the 31 and 32 RTF2 guns.

In addition to Australia, there's a similar law in Denmark. From a little searching, Glock has produced the "17 DK" with a 4.8 inch barrel and an overall length of 8.3 inches for Denmark.

I had quite the conversation with the guy when I called to pay. Shipping is astonomical, as they are not shipped in traditional postal service fashion. They are basically put onto an airplane or boat. Shipping for two guns from AUS was about $800, plus a 10% excise tax. Plus the 'formal entry' with customs' process and paperwork, and a roughly 4-6 week approval process from the ATF.

That article is actually how I found out about it.

I wonder how many different Glock variations exist for different countries. Must be a LOT.

What a cool gun to have Sniper!! I'd print that article and keep it w/the gun.
There's a few that I've been tracking, including the 17S, with manual safety, 17 and 19DK Danish guns, and the 17MB, 19MB and 21MB European only guns with ambi mag catches. And after talking to the guy sat Texas Machine Gun, I may bite the bullet and get some imported.

I and I'm sure a few others would be up for a group buy it there is any economy of scale. I was thinking that adding guns to a shipment is likely incrementally less per gun.

That would be great. A group of us could all pitch in, get some great guns and split the fees. Would b fantastic. Thanks!!!

I would definitely be interested if we could get the price to a reasonable level...

Speaking of which: what do you guys do for a living that allows you to chase down all these Glocks??? If I'm going to get on your level, I'm going to have to start a new line of work! ;)

I'm a full time - actually full time ++ - cardio- thoracic and trauma anesthesiologist. I'm the Director of Trauma Anesthesia at a large, level I trauma center. I've also long been involved in tactical medicine.

I've been a part time, sworn Deputy Sheriff for 15 years. I'm an LE and civilian firearms instructor and a life long competitive shooter.

While I'm certainly paid very well there are far, far easier paths to making good money which don't require 9 years of very intensive training after college (4 years medical school, 1 year internship, 3 years residency, 1 year fellowship).:)
