Today, I was shocked that there is no way that Californians can buy a G5 Glock, can you believe this BS?
Not only G5 but also G4!!
How can I get a G5 Glock???
I know, my Dad lives in Oregon. Have toyed with the idea of having him "gift" me a glock 43
Just not sure if I would be able to add it to my permit. I've heard conflicting answers to that question. And if I can't have it on my permit I really don't see any reason to bother.
Thanks for the info.
Ahh the Peoplez Damnocratic Republizks of Kommifornia strikes again.
So grateful to live in a free state all these years. Three different states. Pa. West Virginia, and here in "The Gunshine State", Florida, since 2006. CCW carrier since 1972.
Sad so many people in so many states favor the failed concept of communism while the fallen of the late Confederacy are called 'traitors' for fighting and bravely dying for a Constitutional Republic.
As the Bible said of the 'last days'
"Good will be called evil. And evil good."
But hell has been. Is being. And will be paid. To the penny.

Probably something that could be answered with a quick call to the local sheriff's department which issues the permit. Like I mentioned earlier, one f.f.l. that I talked to said
" yeah no problem" another one says no. Thanks again for the heads up.
Over the past 15 years, the company that my wife works for has tried repeatedly to get her to move to the San Fransisco area. She has refused every time.
She is a pretty smart cookie!
Sue the state for violating the 2nd Amendment. You have the right to keep and bear arms. Not the right to own the select few arms the state feels are safe for the peasants to own (or grandfathered in due to age).
Move to Missouri we are free to buy as many guns as you can afford. I am up to four hand guns and it's as easy as walk in a plunk your money down do the paper work and in less than an hour maybe twenty min. your out the door with your new gun.
I grew up in Missouri, they are headed in the right direction with the fairly recent constitutional carry law passage. Makes me even more homesick! Oh well, my wife's entire family is here in the bay area, so I'll be here for a while. Retirement however will see me anywhere but California.
I actually don't think CA LEO can buy a non-roster handgun and resell it, at least, just to make a profit. If I recall I think there is now a law forbidding that practice. I suspect there are provisions for an exempt individual to sell an off roster gun PPT, but I think there is an intent thing in there.
There are far more Gen 4's in circulation PPT wise in CA than later guns, like G42/G43 and Gen 5 (among others, clearly this isn't a Glock only proposition). There was a time after the Roster got established and guns like the Gen 4 were not on it, that there was a loophole called the Single Shot Exemptiom. During that time, a lot of Gen 4 Glocks, and other guns not on the roster were brought in through savvy FFL's willing to perform the ritual of the Single Shot Exemption. I lived there at the time and got a Warren Tactical 9mm 1911 from Springfield's Custom Shop through the SSE process, along with a number of Gen 4 Glocks, etc.
In the long run, there will be very few handguns you will be able to buy through an FFL in CA, that is just how the Roster works.
I think you are correct on the law enforcement point. I believe they have to buy the gun and retain it for at least 1 year before selling it. ( I could be wrong on the amount of time) but I do know that they can not turn reselling guns into a commercial enterprise. Having a father, a mother, a grandparent, or a kid that lives in a free state has its advantages. I did just find out on Friday that even blood related siblings can NOT! Transfer an off roster firearm to they're brother or sister in ca. Completely ridiculous.
Yep, I have bought multiple off-roster handguns, if you are patient, you won't have to pay too much of the off-roster premium from a PPT. Hopefully as the roster continues to shrink more people will become aware of the tyranny that the roster actually is, and how it has nothing to do with safety.
With 84 previous posts as I type this,I must be the only one on GT who likes San Francisco.I realize all the problems, but it depends where your location is.In S.F. Pacific Heights has less because it is so expensive and the view and restaurants/shops are great.Condemn me all you want,I like California.
Oh thank god. I just found out about half a month ago that we will be moving to California about 35 40 minutes away from LA to help my grandma. And I have a Glock 19 gen4 and a Glock 43x. That I’ve bought in Oregon and was so worried that I wouldn’t be able to have my gun and it would be taken/confiscated when I moved there. Do you happen to know of what all I have to do when I move to California with my firearms?
You are required to register them with the state DOJ. It is a crime to have unregistered guns. If you jump on calguns they will be able to explain that process. Also if you have any weapons that CA considers assault weapons check the laws before bringing them in. You may not be able to bring those
I escaped from L.A. in 1998. I knew back then that things were only going to get worse. L.A. and California was a nice place to live until the Democrats took over the entire state starting around 1980. I had lived in the Bay area, too, and that's a ****hole now as well.
I've got property in Concho, having sold my Snowflake land. Snowflake was going too-too California like for me.
I like Arizona and could live in Holbrook or Payson too.... I like wide open areas with historically significant places. I have a weak spot for petrified wood too.
I, for a while mind you, wanted to live in Desert Hot Springs (SoCal), but all the potable water land was taken up with golf courses or land speculators.
I still remember Borrego Springs fondly, but it went the same way with all the water rights tied up in Korean land grab/golf courses and hotels. Yuck! I hate kimchee.
Is everyone sure that even a G5 can exist in California? Wasn't there something about numerically stamping each round when fired to identify the source of an offending bullet?
I may be wrong here... but I think there's a big stinky reason for them being banned.... right?
There's lots of big stinky things in California though...
I'm not up to the curve on reciprocity in Montana, where I now live. Suffice to say I'm happy here... but I'm too close to Missoula to be 100% happy, even 65 miles away. The yoots and off season inner city MSU sport'os rape, pillage and pollute and like The Blob* .... seem to get closer all the time.

Ive been in Arizona since 97, but its starting to become more Cali every year. I’m checking out Utah. I might go back to Idaho although my family up there says its also being invaded. Anyway, i was going to pick up a Gen 5 19 and 34 before the world went sideways. I have gen 3s, 4s and whatever they consider a 19x. I really like the 19x and figured a 34 MOS would be awesome.
