I guess I need start shopping for a good shotgun card system. Whose got the best one? Also thinking of putting Velcro backing on the two old hard mounts I had to use them.

I also prefer the SOE cards...

These are what I have gone to on most of my shotguns....you can buy the wide velcro that adheres to the receiver at Lowes for a couple bucks.

Once you get the velcro on the side of the shotgun the cards are 100% interchangeable and you can stick 2 of them in an M16 mag pouch and they fit perfectly. They are MUCH lower profile than the sidesaddle style shell holders...and also hold the shells better IMO and of course if storing the gun and the width of the receiver with shells velcroed to the side is a concern they simply pull right off and can be installed in a mere second.

If you like belt carry, the Carbon Arms systems are in use by some in LE and MIL. Mostly used in 3Gun competition though.

Was planning on getting a Mossberg Shockwave, and a hard side saddle. I imagine the effect on balance would be insignificant.

I use the SOE cards as well. SOE also has a belt attachment that allows you to carry a spare card on your belt, which I also have attached to the sling of my 870. Should the need ever arise, I have rapid access to, and the ability to easily carry, 18 rounds of 12 gauge ammo with 12 on/in the gun and six on my belt.

That's a lot of ammo for a shotgun.

I recently ordered some of Condor's Tactical Shotgun Reload System. I haven't received it yet to give a review, but it interested me for a couple of reasons:

The velcro for the stock straps on instead of adhesive. I have read a lot of complaints about the adhesive side not sticking properly.

The cards will fit in standard rifle pouches so you don't have to change your gear around.

Six shells to a card for my 5+1 shotgun - matches perfectly.

Condor has found a pretty good balance between price and quality in more recent years (not so much in the past).

I'll let you know more after I receive my new gear.

I received my Condor gear last week. It has good stitching and the hook-n-loop is good quality and strong. The elastic is very firm and should last a long time. If it wears out, I can easily and inexpensively replace the cards - they don't cost very much. I was able to easily strap the cuff onto the stock and it does not move once in place. Each card holds 6 12 gauge shells and the extra cards fit into the magazine pouches in my tactical vest. I am happy with my investment.

I will add to this review when I get this system out to the range.
