Today at the LGS i saw a new one and grabbed it. Blown away with how it fit my hand. Only reason I have not picked up a 45acp this long, was quite frankly my thought of Glock not offering a 45 close to a G19 compact frame.
30S seems to fit the bill despite the frame a tad shorter.
I read a few threads about it, and my question to those who own one, any regrets? Seems like this would be perfect for me. I have not shot it yet, but i shot the 30 in the past.
The 30s if my favorite Glock and is my every day carry. I'm by no means a marksmen but without a doubt I shoot it better than my other five Glocks. Of course if your going to carry that's the most important thing in my mind. I did swap the 10rd mag for a 9rd mag when I carry so it sits flush.
My first pistol was a pre SF G30. It is a phenomenal pistol, just found it to be a bit bulky compared to carrying the 9mm compacts.
When the 30S was announced I was skeptical as to how much slimmer it could possibly feel since the difference on paper looks very small. I will tell you, that little bit less slide makes a huge difference in IWB carry comfort, and the increase in felt recoil because of the lighter slide is negligible. I will never get rid of my G30 as it was my first pistol, but it has become a safe queen since the 30S entered the lineup.
I just love my g30's.
I only have had it about 2months but it's now my EDC and I have shoot well over 2k rounds through it.
It is very accurate and reliable.
It carries well and easy and holds a good amount of ammo too.
I carry it with the 10 +1 mag and a g21 magazine as backup.
This is my first Glock too.
I like mine just fine and works well in the drawer with a 21 mag. or the OEM for carry. Very little difference in size between the 19 and 30S. I have had very good luck and like TFO sights on my carry guns BUT they won't fit on the 30S. Ended up with Trijicon HDs which are OK but they don't seem to work quite as well in dim light. You'll like the gun.
PS. The 19 and 30s both fit in the serpa holster. I did have to lightly sand on the interior to take some of the "snugness" out of it. It still fits the 19 and 26 just fine. For carry, I use an all leather holster made for the 30 with no problems.
I am much more accurate with a 30 out to a longer distance, easily. But for defense, either will be more than capable of hitting the mark.
I don't carry the 30/s. I carry a 19. I can shoot it more consistently with either hand, much further than most with two hands. I haven't practice much with the 30, though, to see if I can hit 50 yards with my left hand, though.
In 45, I prefer to carry my FN FNP 45 which is heavier and can shoot as good as my 1911s, for hits, not groups. Plus it holds 16, not 10.
You need to practice with your 30S. If you intend on carrying it, you need a heavyweight gun belt and a solid holster. Carry a spare magazine or in my case, a spare gun, instead.
Going to go against the grain here. I had the entire Glock 30 series of guns - 30SF, Gen4 30, 30S, and the 36 and eventually sold them. Not that they are not good because they are very good and reliable, it's just that they didn't work for me. As you may already know, the 30S is nothing more than a 36 slide mounted on a SF frame. It is a bit lighter to carry but I found it a bit more snappy than the 30. Of the 30 series the one I liked the best was the Gen4 30. It felt better in my hands and I didn't mind the extra ounces because it made it shoot better - less snap. I would recommend that you try both them side by side at your range to see which one you like better.
My EDC was the regular G30 for eight years until the 30s came out and Ive been carrying It ever since . I shoot it just as good as my previous G30 and it fits in my leather G19 holster.
I've had my G30s for almost three weeks now and have been to the range three times. I am seriously considering replacing my G26 with the G30s as my everyday carry gun. Those of you who know me know how much I love the G26, so that's a big deal. With the flush nine round magazine, the grip is sized right between the G26 and the G19 for length, so it is very easy to conceal without printing. I put Talon rubber grips on mine and it fits my hand perfectly. I am very surprised at how well it shoots. There must really be something to that "pinkie curled under the mag" thing for improved accuracy. I've been carrying the G30s in my Milt Sparks Criterion holster that I use for my G19 and I've been carrying a spare thirteen round mag in my offside front pocket. Bought a couple boxes of Underwood 255gr hardcast rounds to carry in the woods, and they fired cleanly at the range. Everything is working extremely well with the G30s. Great gun!
I love mine, but I did do a few mods. I replaced the sights with trijicons and added a synthetic suede grip called a-grip. Then I bought a recoil calibration set from wolf and increased the spring weight to 19 lbs. The gun still eats everything I feed it including light reloads, and the slide velocity is decreased. It's my favorite glock.
Have had a 30s for several years now. One of my favorites. I do prefer the 10 rd magazines as I like to have a place for my little finger. Only change I have is a set of Talon (rubber) grips, which is something I have done for all of my Glocks. A set of Trijicon HD sights are probably coming in the near future. Virtually the same size as a 19, and just as easy to carry. Great shooter and very controllable recoil (imho).
Patti Carry's a 30sf , I carry a 30 .we both love ours.
Everyone tells me that they won't buy there Lady a firearm because she might use it on them.
The first one I got her was a sw 9mm
I made the mistake of letting her shoot my G30 she fell in love.
We have a pawn shop that sells used and New firearms, her 30sf new cost$375. I started looking around while she was doing paperwork, saw a G30 (used ) @$225 asked our friend a LE who works there about it .
He told me a guy bought it , put a magazine thru it brought it back said it hurts to fire it , traded it for a 9mm.
It had not been cleaned yet, it came home with us.
She has one.45 , I have 3. She says I am a .45 hog.

I have a 30 and a 30s, from factory the 30 is heavier, thicker slide and less bouncy, but still a hard hitter, I stopped carrying the .45 because it was so bulky compared to the G27, ballistics aren't that different but conceal-ability and recoil are. I was a .45 guy for years until I got the .40 in my early 50's. recoil and followup shot apprehension became an issue the older I get and the wrist jolting.
