I CC in church. I also make a quick trip around the church to lock side doors and leave only 1 door to enter the church from the outside. We keep a greeter at that door.

If you conceal your G-17 as well as you say you can why not just CCW at church without anyone the wiser? You'd be doing a great service for the congregation, yes? Do you know for certain that other church members forego carrying concealed? What would you choose to do if you learned some are doing just that?

If anyone discovers you're carrying you can then present your case to the Board. Of course, it's your call to be strictly honest or to be prepared to defend yourself and others.

I think it has been established here previously that the gun was exposed and observed and that carrying it there is one of several places done that it is clearly illegal.

Yeah, just saw that on FOX.

As if we didn't have enough reason already...

Prayers for all.

The church member, who was a licensed gun owner, went to his vehicle and retrieved his own fire arm and returned to the church, he said.

"It was then that the gunman shot himself," Aaron said.
History repeats...the gunman kills himself at the first sign of serious resistance. God bless the CCW for having the courage not to run and hide.

I hear what you're saying. I've seen differing reports on how the gunman got shot. One was that, in the struggle where the usher was being pistol-whipped, the gunman (probably accidentally) shot himself. The other was the situation as you describe it. In any case, he didn't follow Cooper's first law.

I carry every Lord's Day, and I preach every other week. We are a very small congregation of about 35, but counting me I know there are between 3-6 guns there every week.

Of course our congregation has a men's get together every year, called "God, guns, and grub". We invite men from all around and do a bunch of shooting and eat BBQ ribs.
Most of our leadership meetings have at least some gun discussion.

Anti-gun entities don't need to post a sign to prohibit guns as long as notice is otherwise given. Since you are aware of your church's anti-gun policy, you were given the necessary notice. You may want to investigate to determine whether you're legally permitted to carry a concealed handgun in Vermont if the persons in apparent charge of a property prohibit the carrying of handguns.

I am ever so grateful to the man who told me I couldn't sing. Otherwise, I might have grown up and become Bruce Springsteen
LOL. I have long held the theory that God can give a person either of two gifts regarding singing: a good voice, or the taste to realize that you don't have a good voice. The only people that are really in trouble are the ones who lack either gift.

This is totally sad that this happened

Of course it's in Chicago, where the law abiding can't protect themselves against criminals.
Mostly because of the peaceful religion of Islam, and that there are also liberals out there with guns. This is why I carry when I go to church.

PS: At my local Sprint store, there is a sign with a black 1911 with a red circle and a line written over the black 1911. I always wondered but forget to ask, why does my Sprint store not like black 1911s? Hmmm.....:dunno:

I was told that I could have had a traumatic brain injury owing to a motorcycle accident in May 2013. I was sent for a psychological evaluation during 2014. The evaluation was inconclusive, as I had expected. I disputed the brain injury surmise, but the medical professionals stuck to their guess.

I suspect he has an eccentric sense of humor which is lost on most people.

I hadn't thought about that. Poking fun at some stereotypes or trolling a bit past the edge that can make gun owners look bad.

I don't attend church, but I might if your's was near. ;)

FWIW, I don't go anywhere I can't carry.

In Texas, churches can post 30.06 or 30.07 signs depending on what type of carry they permit.
If they don’t allow any guns, they’ll post both signs. The church we attend allows concealed
carry only. Our concerns have been a rash of domestic disputes we’ve had break out at church.
Oddly enough, now that cooler fall weather has arrived, these incidents have dropped to nothing.

As you know, bad things can happen anytime of the day, week, month or year. So always be prepared.

Maybe by the Thanksgiving thru New Years period, domestic incidents at your church will pick up again! :whistling:
