My choice is also with .357sig caliber.

So let's get the too-expensive-to shoot issue off the page right now. Answer: Yes, compared to most duty calibers it is expensive. But if it comes down to the lives of your loved ones or only yourself or other bystanders present you're going to know whether you skimped on the right things or not. Pronto.

All the rest of the impeccable virtues .357sig caliber brings to the table are: Reliable feeding, proven penetration/expansion with top-tier self-defense rounds, manageable recoil, flat trajectory, etc, ...

... and muzzle power at 100 yards out equal to the 9mm's power at the shooting stand.

I have complete confidence in the HST, Gold Dot, Golden Saber Bonded, Hornady, and a few other brand names readily available for this caliber.

There's no one-gun-fits-all-scenarios that exists today. In the everyday environment I now exist the .357sig caliber fulfills more defense capability to perceived possible situations than any other.

30 if you wont carry it, 30S if you will.

This thread has got me considering a Glock .45 as I've been thinking about .45 as well as wanting to try 10mm. Probably a Gen 4 30. I hand load so the cost of 10mm isn't a big issue. I just checked sgammo though and S&B 10mm is only .32 cents per. It's a bit cheaper than 357 Sig in some cases.

Why does the G29 only hold 10 rounds, same as the .45?

I think I'm going to get a 30s I do not have large hands and I do not want a large brock

The 30s has a smaller slide but not a smaller grip. the grip is the same width as the full size Glock but the 30SF has a smaller grip but the full size (bur shorter) slide.

Glock either needs to make a 30sSF or a gen 4 30s because the Gen 4's have smaller grips with the smallest backstrap and are said to be the same as the SF grip.

Try handling both a 30s and a 30sf before you make your final decision.

I bought a G20c and then shot someone's G20SF and sold the 20c and got a 20Sf Then I wished I had got a 21 and then got a 10mm barrel for it. Then I'd have 2 guns in one. I used to think that you could also get a 357 Sig barrel for a G21 but you can't. They make 357 Sig barrels for the G20 but not for the G21.

As can be seen the 357 Sig penetrated 3 sheets of aluminum while the .45 only penetrated 1 same for the .40! The 357 Sig also has around 100 more ft/lbs of energy than these two loads both acclaimed by many as the best weights for caliber. As for as the 9mm goes the 357 Sig has the same energy at 50 yards as the 9mm at the muzzle obviously giving the 357 Sig more power at the muzzle and greater range which is useful for woods carry. Add Underwood ammo and the numbers go up even more. These are some of the reasons I carry and recommend the 357 Sig as the best all around SD caliber.

If you mean to easily conceal the gun, you may consider the 357 Sig. You get more velocity, energy and firepower in a smaller gun. I carry the G33 and had also put a 4" barrel and mag extension in it and have concealability, velocity, and 11 round firepower. I feel like the 45cal deserves to be at least a 4.5" - 5" barreled gun, or it loses a lot of its potency. But then if I'm going to go with a large framed .45, I'd just as soon choose the Glock 10mm over it! It is my opinion that with the advent of the Glock 10mm over the past 20 years, the .45cal defense gun isn't what it use to be. Yea, there will always be .45 die hards (I will always keep my P-14) but a 10mm makes more sense in that size gun in the real world.

ETA; Oh.....and forgot to say that I have ultimate reliability too of that small 357Sig bottleneck case sliding right into that barrel every time.

Actually I think the .40 is the new .45 as the 10mm is in a different power class as the .45. I also share your positive thoughts about the G33 but there is no need to put a 4 inch barrel in it. A G33 with it's stock barrel when loaded with Underwood 125 gr GD ammo generates velocity and energy in the 357 Magnum performance window, with a 4 inch barrel the velocity goes to 1500 + fps which surpasses the 357 Magnum.

I'm on the fence either a .357 Sig barrel for my G27 or get a G23 and then the Sig barrel for that. I'm ok to add another caliber, I never shot much .45 so the Sig caliber is more appealing to me.

Yes, that's correct...just a barrel.

The complete list of ALL differences berween all-OEM Gen4 G32 and G23 pistols is here:

1. Barrel.
2. Rear sight elevation - G32 => 6.9mm; G23 => 6.5mm,
3. Ejector - G32 => 30499; G23 => 28926 (minor difference in slope of ejector tip that may be safely ignored).
4. Model number/caliber stamps on left side of slide.

ALL other parts are absolutely identical with same Glock part number for both calibers.

Magazines are interchangeable.

So, an OEM G23 barrel is all that is needed to use .40SW in a G32. Glock sells that directly for $125:

So would i be better off with a Glock 32 & just get a Glock 23 barrel, or get a Glock 23 with a 357sig barrel? Or does that even matter?

The only two problems is more muzzle rise with the 357 and supersonic bullets tend to make your ears ring forever should you need to shoot it without finding your hearing protection. In a self defense situation not sure your doing to have time to remedy that issue . I've shot both and like them both but at close range I think the 45 with get the job easier with less muzzle rise so I'd rather hit my target with more bullets and get on target quicker! Plus I still like to listening to music!

Look at the ballistics. Yes, 45 is awesome round. Here are the questions to think about. Why did the military switch from M14 to M16 (7.62 to 5.56), and why did military switch from 45acp to 9mm ?

Could it be the amount to ammo you can carry ?

With 45 you need to be very accurate and hit the 1st time. Are you going to be calm after firing, recoil and muzzle rise also plays a role. 357sig flys out the barrel, does not have that big of a kick (back/up) and you can carry mags with lots of ammo and more mags. If you just go to shooting at the range to hit target, use 45acp.

I have a Glock 21 and Sig P220 (alloy frame). The Glock 21 is twice as soft recoiling as the P220. Being a big Sig fan, I track down a Sig P220 ST (stainless) and buy it since the all-steel Sig models are all about low recoil and I want a Sig that matches the Glock 21's low recoil characteristics.

Guess what, the Glock 21 STILL has noticeably less recoil than my new all steel Sig P220.

Polymer magic, it's real.

Agree with your assessment and I do carry a extra mag or two but if I need more shots than that. We'll I probably going to be in over way over my head anyway and wish I had my rifle. But if you like the 357 and shoot it well I totally understand I personally have considered the 10mm. Again you only can carry so much ammo on your person so it is definitely a concern and why I used to carry my G19.

The g30 mags have that extra pinky space which act like an extension. G29's don't have those extensions

I've always been a fan of the 19 but recently I bought a new 32 Gen 3,figured I could also get a 23 barrel if 357 Sig ammo became hard to find.I have to tell you,357 Sig is very addictive.I'm loving it and my friends I've let shoot it agree with me.Yea,the ammo is around $27 per box of 50 but I find I shoot better with 357 Sig than I do 9mm.I think it's well worth the extra cost.

ANY GLOCK in 45 ACP over the 357. I hate to say it, but the 357 Sig seems to be falling out of the limelight, along with the GAP which was never really in the limelight.

People really love them or are just indifferent to them... I really didn't want to get a new caliber at this point in my life, but the 10 mm did it to me. And now they have reproduced into 3 of them for me.

Shoot them both and decide which one you like, not us. Or better yet, buy both. That is what I would do. Nuff said!

45acp would be my suggestion. O also wouldn't limit myself to Glock. I'd check out other brands as well before plunking down my hard earned money without alot of comparison and research. My last purchase I decided after much investigating was a S&W M&P 2.0 in 45acp and couldn't be more happy and impressed. I will always love Glock but I love this M&P
