What was your first Glock (gateway). I started with a Gen 3 Glock 26. Then a Gen 3 G19. Put on night sights and no mods (500 round trigger job). Presently considering a Gen 4 G30.

This Glock 17 was issued to me when I was attending the police academy in 1993. I didn't like it at first, since I was a 1911 or revolver only type back then. After shooting it for a while it kind of grew on me. Definitely a gateway Glock because I've bought, and relied on, many since this first one was "forced" on me 24 years ago. Luckily I was allowed to purchase it when I retired. Best dollar I ever spent... :D

I do feel nostalgic about my 1911s and revolvers but today it has to be a Glock and nothing is wrong with the standard 9mm. Be safe my friend.

Glock 30. I had been researching and wanted a high end 1911 but couldn't make up my mind, at the same time I wanted something concealable. I also wanted to stick to 1 type of handgun ammo so I picked .45 acp as a good all around caliber. Pretty accurate target round, pretty effective defensive round, and a lot of fun to shoot. So since I couldn't decide on which 1911 to get, I went with a safe bet. Glock 30 gen 4.

G30 is a gun that can shoot all day and will not complain. I'm not as accurate with it as I like, I find it a challenge to master but it absolutely is combat accurate. You'll hit what you want to with it, just might not be exactly where you think it should be. You do have to adapt to Glock pistols a little bit imo. But I know it's as accurate as an off the shelf compact .45 can be.

Now, of course I miss 9mm cost and inherent accuracy so I'm G17 dreaming. Gen 5 in FDE or OD drools.

Forgot, I did end up getting a high end 1911. A 2016 year Colt Special Combat Government, of note in 2016 they started adding Front Strap Checkering. It is an accurate weapon out of the box and does outshoot the G30. But it's not the reliable machine the G30 is. SCG has choked on two of my wilson combat mags which is known to happen to 1911's. The glock just runs and runs. A month ago I picked up a Colt M45 as well. Its not as temperamental about magazines as the SCG and it is an amazing combat gun. It's as if it guides itself to the target. Not kidding, it is a special weapon we should all be proud the marines have. I think a G21 vs M45 shootout would favor that particular Colt.

Gen 3, G23. Led to four others in 40; 45ACP, and 45GAP. Still have them all, but tough to beat the G23 for overall CC and duty carry.

My gateway Glock was the very first gun I bought for myself, a Gen 2 Glock 21 purchased brand new in 1992. My gf’s father at the time, had a Gen 2 G17 and once I shot it, it was the gun I had to have. Yet when I went to buy, the only new Glock the store had was a new G21 so I took it. I had that G21 for 18 years and still the only gun I really regret selling.

I was just browsing one day & next thing I noticed was this 19 gen 4 & my credit card sitting on the counter. I have no idea how it got there, but I felt sorry for it & figured I had to give it a good home.
