Man Cave Invaded

I have a huge man cave. 2 car garage, office, completely open second floor, and secret hiding spaces for a total of about 1400 square feet. It is separate and about 25 yards away from the house. It has its own gate and driveway out to the street as well as a covered breezeway where I could park a couple of cars or a trailer, whatever. I kept my boat and whichever car I wasn't driving parked inside and my trailer and vehicle I was working on outside. My wife never goes there. Ever.

My wife is a teacher and has summers off with little or nothing to do. Big mistake was that I sold my boat and one of my cars which left enough open space in the garage where her teachers eyes lit up and 'organize' locked into her mind. Not just the garage, but also the office and the second floor.

Now everything is in black boxes with yellow lids. I can't find anything. Ammo, accessories, cases, mounts, gunsmithing tools, anything...... I'm going to have to take weeks to open and label all the dumb boxes and move things around. Augh!!!!!!!!!!!!. My pruning saw is hanging 10 feet off the floor. I have to get a ladder to take it down and the ladder is hanging six feet up on a wall mount.

She did clean the office (she was surprised I had AC out there and she did not find my secret hiding places. Amazing what you can do with some plywood, sheetrock, and strategically placed shelving.) I did lose some stuff but saved a lot because anything I told her was for shooting she left. But a lot did get sold or taken to the landfill. She kept 20% and gave me the rest from the stuff she sold; mostly older electronics, duplicates, most of my reference and history library, and camping gear.

She also knows that is a lot more stuff than I had at our old house where I had a 10x14 foot office so I have to keep my guard up.

But man, my Fortress of Solitude was invaded.

She
Change the locks, and tell her that if tries to take your over your guy space again you will start organizing her ****ing shoes.....

I predict she will say "Fine" and a period of tense cease-fire will commence, ending when she sees something shiny and loses interest, or when Outlander comes back on, whichever comes first.

Let us know how it goes.
My wife knows i wouldn't try to organize her shoes it would take me to long.

Had the same thing happen to me when I came back from a deployment to Kosovo back in 2012. I have a 20 x 20 shop where my largest gun safe stays plus all of my hunting gear, tools, gun parts, cleaning materials etc stay. Came back and my wife had "cleaned up and organized" my stuff. Took me months to find my stuff. My sympathies to you brother

I am an attorney, and although I'm not your attorney, if I were, as your attorney,
I would advise you to go and buy at least one new firearm to help with the panic attacks.
Two or three new firearms would probably reset you back to normal. No need to thank me.
My thoughts exactly. Been browsing galleryofguns to help ease the pain. I think I have a couple picked out. Been looking at new safes also. Mine's full. Can't decide if I want a big new one and sell the old, or get another medium size and keep the old.

My wife has been eyeing my shop saying she wants to help clean and organize it. So far I've held her off. I also have a room in the basement that is designated for firearms. I managed to put a lock on that door and she so far hasn't asked for a key.

I was single for over 20 years before my wife and I got together. Before we got married we sat down and talked about some very important things. I am old and set in my ways.

1. NO DRAMA! I will kick you out of my house if there is any amount of girly drama, jealousy or accusations. I am a faithful guy and I will never stray. I trust you to be the same way.
2. I will not fight with you over things. We are both adults and we can discuss things and come to an agreement.
3. My dogs and guns were here before you and they will be here after you. I will not get rid of them, don't ask or demand that I do.
4. I have my workshop set up in the basement. Stay out of there and don't touch anything without my permission. Not even a single screwdriver.
5. No TV in the bedroom. The bedroom is for sleeping and sex.
6. You have your hobbies and I have mine. We don't need to be active in each others hobbies.
7. We will have a unified front in dealing with the kids, or any friend or relatives who stick their nose into our business. We are a team, and we put us first.
8. You and I will both remain employed unless we retire, hit the lottery, or become incapacitated in some manner.
9. We will both have separate "mad money" accounts for our hobbies and frivolous purchases. We can fund these accounts AFTER all the bills are paid and we set money aside for emergencies.
10. We will never go to bed mad at each other and we will always say I Love You to each other when we leave each others company.

She and I agreed to the above rules and we have been together for 12 happy years. No fights, no arguments, and we spend a lot more time together than apart. I love her dearly and I am a very lucky guy to have her.

A golden nugget out of all this.

I used to belong to an indoor gun range and was a charter member. That meant: no monthly dues, a reduced range fee, and a discount on anything I purchased.

The owner passed away and someone else took it over so for several years I did not go back as I belong to an outdoor range. Unfortunately it is only open on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

I happened to wander back into the indoor range the other day and mentioned I used to belong to it when it first opened. Turned out the new owner was the divorced wife of the original owner and they honored his original members. All they needed was my charter member card.

Augh!!!! That was almost twenty years ago in 1998.

During the cleaning and reorganizing, my wife found the original charter member card along with range time I have never used!!!!

How did this happen?
When I no longer use a card or think it is worthless, there was a cubbie I would place them in. Old and defunct casino cards and tokens (I used to live in Las Vegas and have chips and comp cards from the Stardust, Landmark, Mint, Four Queens, etc.), membership cards, and this case the membership card and range card after the owner passed away. I still have 10 sessions free! Just in time for the pistol match in August.
