This section looks a bit dead, thought I'd ask if anyone was still lurking back here.

I'm in the RDU area of NC, anyone else around?

I posted a few weeks ago asking the active members to post where you shoot and what your particular interest are. Rifle, shotgun, pistol or competitions you participate in to get a little conversation started with only one or two responses of where you guy's are located.
That does not create interesting subject matter for any kind of discussion. Let' try again.
I shoot GSSF and a few of our club "action" matches.
Anyone going to the GSSF match in Morganton in April?

PS: Post no.11, 16, 18 for more details

I live half way between Windsor and Edenton, NC. I don't do any competition shooting but I train as much as possible since I have my own property to shoot on. Also I train with a few guys at a private range near Scottland Neck. I will be moving down to Fayetteville to start a new job building AK's of various flavors. I will probably be hanging out at 37PSR when I make the move. Been awhile since I was active on this forum since I had me Gen 4 Glock 22 stolen. Picked up a Gen 4 Glock 34 recently and love it. Didn't realize how much I missed my Glock.

I am in Hertford NC Perquimans county; that would be in East Carolina north of Greenville and south of Elizabeth City smack dab in the middle of farm country. I am a member of the North Carolina shooting club. Our club is an outdoor range behind a gas station on Ocean Highway. We self-maintain it and are in the process of putting in a skeet range. Most of us are retirees from every walk of life with most people from New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia & NC etc... we have a hand full or retired military guys and we have a few locals. It's a good group.

I reside in the Northern part of Currituck County. I usually try to make it to the Gun Shacks indoor pistol range events.

I shoot long guns every now and then at our friends place.

Hello LongRange, do you shoot at the Asheville Rifle and Pistol? Lived in Asheville for 20 years. moved back to the flat lands near Albemarle. Just getting into long range with a Ruger PR. Only have 100 yards at home range and it is getting a little boring. I need more room! Don't want to do matches, just want to see how far I can ring steel.
This thread is pretty much dead as those who join only give where they live. Not much discussion from that. Let's tell what our interest are and where, what we shoot to get a conversation started.
I was a member and RSO at he Asheville R&P. At that time I shot only pistols at IDPA and USPSA matches at On Target and Rex's and club matches with the Asheville Action Pistol Club. Is it still in in existance? Do you know Phil Flack of PF Guns? I moved away in 2004 and lost touch with everyone.

Anyway Welcome DannC

Ive been on and off this forum for a long time, usually just check out the new post section, sometimes the reloading section, don't generally go through the individual forums too much. Definitely spend more time on other more NC specific forums than here, usually better for local stuff, match info, meetups, etc.

I mainly just shoot pistols, actively shoot matches, steel challenge, IDPA, NRA Action pistol, but have really enjoyed USPSA the most lately. Built a poor mans open gun out of a CZ P-09 and really have fun with it. Belong to a great local private gun club, Buccaneer, shoot matches there and Ant Hill range.

Fun fact, I don't own any Glocks at this time.:supergrin: My first ever carry gun was a G26 though, and that's what I started shooting IDPA matches with several years ago. Served me well, sold it and moved on to other platforms. Do like the looks of the gen 5 glocks, and have always wanted to shoot one of the GSSF matches, only there are none anywhere close to me. Who knows, maybe one day.

You live near Wilmington? I have heard of Ant Hill but uncertain where it it located. The GSSF match at the Palmetto Gun Club in Summerville, SC should be with in a easy there and home trip. Have driven over 600 miles in one day to shoot a match. Real long day! GSSF is becoming my favorite style of match as I am getting too old for the run and gun. My home club [Riverside Gun Club Richfield, NC] is having a 3gun match this Saturday. Cold and rain may keep me at home. We sometimes stage a pistol only match design mostly around the GSSF course of fire.
Post some pics and how you finished in some matches. We have a web site at riversidegunclub.org. for those looking for a club. We are about 50 -60- miles from Charlotte, Greensboro and Winston-Salem
They have .22 rimfire bench rest matches the first Saturday of the month, "action" pistol, pistol rifle, pistol shotgun and 3gun on the second Sat., 100 yard center fire bench rest on the third. Do not need to be a member to shoot a match.

Yes, I live in Wilmington. Ant Hill is about 45mins south of Wilmington in the Bolivia area, my club, Buccaneer, is about 20mins south of Wilmington just past Leland.

Traveling to a match must past that sounds like fun but working a full time job at 50+ hours a week, spending time with my wife and two young kids, just not practical. We do have family in Florida and Alabama that aren't too far away from a couple GSSF matches, maybe I will be able to work one into a family vacation one of these days.

Danbocog,

Just saw your post. I like long range shooting. Pistols are just self-defense tools for me. The Asheville club is close, but has limited range. I’m having to go to clubs in TN to access 600 yd ranges. I was hoping to find a 1,000 yd range nearby, but no joy.

Went to visit the CC&G range last Saturday. They were running a carbine only match.
There were probably 50 -75 vehicles in the parking areas. Well attended.
Talked to Dave about joining. Cost is a little steep. The bad news from a local that the range is going to be shut down for hearing and other safety issues. It is on busy Hwy 64 and is surrounded my large residential areas. There are signs giving notice of public hearings to be held in regard to the ordinances/variance allowing this range to exist.
Does not look good for them.
