180 & 200 gr. xtp & longshot load data needed

I know this is "THE" powder for full power loads, I just don't have the data. Anyone got 1250 for the 200s or 1400 for the 180s, or close?

I Know the #s are on the archives, but figured someone would have them.

I Know better, Benchrst. It was confirmed 5 or more years ago that 800x was the most efficient powder for 165gr. & below, and longshot was for 180 & 200. AA9 is very good also, but won't quite measure for full power like longshot.

I still have a keg of 800x which gets me 1230-1240 with the 200gr. safely and with good precision. back then, underwood was just starting out and was loading longshot & getting higher velocities than i was on the 200s, but I was getting 1700 on the 135 noslers with 800x, which smoked longshot on those. nobody was getting quite as high of velocites with AA9, although that was definitely #3 best powder for the cartridge. Based onwhat I've read so far, Im loading 9 grains and working up from there, unless I hear from someone who has the digits.

Ummm...

Things have changed, as they often do.

Nobody using any sane (published) load data is getting more speed with Longshot than they are with #9, and if they think they are I'd bet good money their chrono is lying to them.

I've shot nothing but 200 grain XTP's in my 10 with Longshot, #9, Power Pistol, and Unique....None of them get anywhere near #9 for both speed and consistency...single digit extreme spreads and 1,305 fps from a 7" barrel using 12.6 grains of #9, not even a max load, Hornady says 13.2 is max...I've shot that max load at nearly 1,400 fps from the 7" barrel....and VERY loud.

Max load of Longshot (8.2 grains) only gets 1,261 fps from that same setup, and an extreme spread of 37 fps.

I matched Longshot with Power Pistol, in both the 6" and 7" barrels...charge weights within a couple of tenths of each other, I'm pretty well convinced Longshot and Power Pistol are almost interchangeable, at least in the 10mm with 200 grain bullets.

How many times is Hornady keep reducing the Max load of Longshot with the 200gr ?
I am sorry I am staying with 8.8 of Longshot with 200gr a 1260 fps load in 4.6”. The older Max in book of 8.2 is 1200 fps in my 4.6”a good full power load but not at full potential. Also 9.6 of 800x with 200 XTP has proven itself as great load also !

In my testing, Book loads: Long shot and 800-X don't get close to #9 for velocities or groups. Not to mention the low flash and great metering too.

Guys get hot velocities with LS and 800-X by going well over book. But why? Other cartridges will fit the bill if more lb/ft are needed.

I can't imagine dropping and trickling a whole keg of pistol charges.

EDITED TO ADD: with Hodgdon's max loads...

180 gr XTP: 1190 FPS ave velocity.
200 gr XTP: 1145 FPS ave velocity

Agreed.

I think kegs might be well served by taking a better look at the data.

There's a few powders that'll get you there, but measure PRE, #9 does it with less pressure with heavy bullets.
