I am brand-new to Glock's having on one only for a month or so now so take everything I say with a tiny grain of salt. The date my gun was testfired was October 2, 2014. It was my understanding that all guns of this model made after April of that year were complete with upgrades. Apparently that is not the case as one of the Glock technicians noticing my serial number said I should send it back to have the upgrades. So, I did. He said he could tell by the serial number that my gun needed the modifications.

In my mind the gun has been shooting OK with only two misfires. Those I attributed to improper grip. Since I have been using a firmer two handed grip I have not had any problems. But, if the man says " send it back ", I send it back.

Although I disdain being without my SideArm I feel that this was the right thing to do. Even if it was shooting OK. Do you agree?

A 2014 G42 would not have the greatly-improved lighter 33564 connector. It would have the now-discontinued original heavy 33215 connector. It will be worth sending it back even if that's all that gets upgraded.

...it sounds like a good excuse to go buy another to "hold you over" until your G42 comes back.
And if you want to try a *small* .380ACP pistol, try a Ruger LCP II (NOT LCP!) ...$250 new when I got one earlier this month.

Where do you find the test fire date, and how would I know which connector I have. My G42 is about 2 years old, so it could be older stock. I live in GA, so I can go to Glock in Smyrna. Does anyone know if they take walk-ins or do you need an appointment?

I called Glock and gave the tech the serial number on the pistol. He checked the number and said send it in. Glock pays for overnight shipping both ways and had it back to me within 10 days (might have been quicker).

I had already had installed the new (-) connector but it had not made a big difference in the weight of the pull. When it came back it was within their spec of 5.5 lbs.

They also replaced 01 and 02 mags with 03 mags.

I've never had any magazine, from any manufacturer, of either polymer or metal construction, crack to the point that it wouldn't fit inside it's intended magwell, so the fact that Glock replaced your cracked polymer ones for free in my mind isn't exactly anything to brag about.

And speaking of "other manufacturers"? I recently recieved 4 magazines, a 2 mag belt pouch, and a holster FOR FREE for purchasing a Springfield Armory XDs 3.3 in 45ACP between February 1 and June 30, 2017 as part of their "GearUp 2017" promotion. Now, what have you received from Glock that was a result of their good grace and not a result of a malfunctioning or broken part?

I can hear a pin drop...

That pistol is a dog with issues like the first one. Ruger has good customer service cause it has to be. I wont buy ruger anymore after the issues I've had with their guns.

You can walk in after you're buzzed. I use to go there often, I lived right behind the place, l remember when that area was being graded through with roads and etc. The Highlands. Heck I remember when it was broken into, now that was a trip and1/2.

Update on my Update: Called Glock and asked why one day? They said they got the updates done! I said, "But you quoted me two to four weeks". The techie said, "Yes, we are required to say that, but it is done!" So, total turn around including delivery both ways is ONE week. Pretty impressive I say!

Maybe Springfield has to give away stuff to get you to buy their pistols. LOL

I would suggest you need another carry system.. gun , couple mags, holster... it's smart to have a backup plan..

Shields still have the rebate a bit longer. 240 dollars for a new shield after rebate and a desantis inside heat holster and your backup is 270 to 280 dollars shipped with two mags and a holster..
