Hey guys, so I'm new to having a firearm and New to this page. I just bought my first gun which is a glock 43. As soon as I bought it I put just 50 rounds in it and had to leave the range. Shortly after I was told I should clean the stock lube out. So I watched a few videos and tried to field strip the gun. I'm here to ask you guys if you think I damaged anything. First off, I messed up by not pulling the trigger after the mag was out. So I depressed those two buttons and forcefully tried to get the slide off pushing it forwards. Secondly, when I was trying to make sure it was functioning properly, i pulled the trigger and the slide jumped forwards pretty rough. After a few more videos I got the hang of it and shot the gun and it works. But it's brand new and I can't help but to feel like I've already damaged it.

Welcome to GT and congrats on the new gun.

This is a good write up on checking the trigger and safety functions of your pistol:

I'm sure all is well on your new gun. Next time RTFM before attempting to work on a new firearm you are not familiar with or find an experienced Glock pistol owner that will help you understand field/detail stripping and cleaning. Good luck and be safe.

Nah you didn't hurt it. Short of hitting the slide with a hammer to get it off you'd have to work pretty hard to damage a glock with your hands. Remember the thing is containing an explosion in your hands. Guns in general are pretty damn tough.

Since you fired it after cleaning, I doubt you damaged it. Glocks are tough guns.

NOTE: a Glock is most susceptible to damage when the slide and frame are separated.
If you drop the slide onto a concrete floor or hard surface, it can crack in the rail area.
The slides are hardened; this makes them susceptible to damage from trauma if dropped when separated from the frame.

When the two (upper and lower) are mated, the gun itself is very tough; unlikely you will ever damage it.

I would not worry about it - your Glock will probably be fine. In addition to Youtube videos there may be some helpful tips in the manual.

Glocks have been shot from Cannons, dropped from Helicopters, dropped from several floors up, with no damage.
Run over by Trucks, drug behind Trucks, buried in sand, mud, and other stuff, not to mention Ice, and snow.
Lost at Sea, for over a year, and still not hurt.
After all that do you think that just getting out of sequence with field stripping wood cause any damage.
Glocks are tough.
