Glock compact 45acp???

Why hasn't Glock produced a compact sized 45acp pistol?
The 30/36 grip isn't really long enough(not enough rounds too) and the barrel is too short IMHO.
A 4inch barrel and a compact size just makes way too much sense to me.

Probably because the G30 and G21 are great pistols, just saying.

This request has come up for ages, I bet I've got post from the last century about it, so your not alone

Short version is Glock actually considers the 30/30s to be a "compact" in some references for some reason. It's assumed they think there is not enough difffernce between the full and "30 size" to be worthwhile. With firearms sales being poor, the 45 seemingly going out of vogue in the one country that likes it (US). It seems it's highly unlikely to ever happen. :(

:laughabove: I have to agree. It's one thing to carry a highly concealable firearm. It's another thing to have to shoot it. It took me seven years to get the hang of my G29SF. But, last year, when I took my new Glock 30SF to the range, I was able to manage it quite nicely. I'm not sure I could manage a smaller pistol very well.

I agree with RonS. As a G30 Gen4 owner who thinks his pistol is an excellent firearm, I really cannot see how much more Glock can "split the differences" here. If you really need something in between, there is a simple solution that you can do for yourself. Just buy a G30 or a G30S (I like the 30 more, but probably more people now buy the 30S) and use the G21 13-round magazine in the pistol, and combine it with something like the "X grip" ( http://www.glockstore.com/X-Grip-for-Glocks?color=1 ) from the Glockstore, which makes the resulting pistol just slightly smaller and more compact than a G21, while still having a very useful and accurate 3.8" barrel, hardly different than the 4" barreled G21, but still able to fire off 13 rounds from one mag.

I see where the OP is coming from, if the 30/30s would have the grip length of the 19 and have a more flush floorplate like the 19 it would be more to the OP's liking
And I totally agree
And when I say grip the same length as the 19, I mean the frame not part of the magazine baseplate

I would buy one today if glock made one

I despise mag extensions... even factory ones. They are nothing but a bandaid and never really fix the problem with a bad design. If they work for you congrats. You will never find one on any of my pistols. My family member's lives as well as my own are far too important to risk to them IMHO.

I have a Pierce +1 on two of my G43 mags as well as a 36 that I keep in a gym bag. Both have been tested over hundreds of rounds, but risking my family is kind of a hobby.

If Glock made the 21 with a 4 inch barrel instead of a 4.60 inch barrel that it has now, that really wouldn't make much difference, would it? That's why Glock made the 45 GAP, because then they were able to use the same compact sized frame as the G19 and the G23.

So if you want that size gun in 45 caliber it's either going to be a 45 Gap or Glock would have to make a single stack gun with a 4 inch barrel, a narrower slide, and a compact sized grip that was longer from front to back than the 9mm or 40 but narrower because it was a single stack.

Or, if they did that, they could do like they did with the 30s and put the narrower slide on the double-wide frame and that might actually be pretty nice.

Glock USA needs to hire me as head of R&D. I'd come up with some real innovations like an HK MP5 type subgun in 9mm, 45, and 10mm that used 36 and 26 round mags that were interchangeable with the pistols. I'd also make models 26, 27, and 33, with the same size grips as the 19, 23, and 32.

If only it didnt pinch the everloving crap out of my pinky under recoil, even with Pearce baseplates. 9 round with Pearce almost works, but generally my 30S stays home and a 1911 stays in the holster when it comes to .45 ACP.

I've debated trying GAP but then I really do have a commander sized gun, same capacity, slower bullets for less weight and a much worse trigger, hard to justify putting money down for that.

I went full circle, had a G30, then a G36, traded off the G36 for some stupid reason. I ended up back in the subcompact 45acp game with the xds45. IF glock had a single stack 45acp I would be on it. I've shot the xds45 along side a G36 and could feel no difference. I would like a single stack glock even if it were full size, just because.

Honestly, if the O.P. wants that kind of firepower in a smaller pistol, he should just get a Glock 27. .40 S&W in a baby Glock. Problem solved.

I have a G36 Gen 2.5 c2000. It only holds 6+1 but, it's very accurate, reliable and carries very well. To some people capacity is a deal breaker but I actually don't mind sacrificing a couple rounds for the thinner grip profile. As the old saying goes; you can't please everyone, so you have to please yourself. I'm pleased.

bac are you over on the 1911 addicts site? I have been dropping in over there on occasion and reading.

The 30 with Pearce finger floor plate is a great grip even for my thick fingers. Great shooter too for a small pkg that has 10 rds of .45ACP and a very soft shooter to boot.
