Hi, looking to buy a aftermarket barrel and would appreciate your advice. It will be for the 17 and general use.

I have a KKM barrel in my gen 3 glock 34, works great no issues. My cousin has a Lone Wolf barrel in his glock 22 barrel, no issues with it either. These guns get lots of rounds too, as we shoot them in local matches here.

If you want to go with an aftermarket barrel, Storm Lake is a good balance of quality and price IMO. KKMs seem to be very accurate, but are pricier. Overall IMO there is not a lot of benefit, accuracy-wise, in going to an aftermarket barrel, unless your individual gun is noticeably inaccurate. In that case, an aftermarket barrel may help. I had one Lone Wolf barrel that would not chamber a factory round. Sent it back to Midway.

I have several lone wolf barrels, and they shoot well, as accurate or slightly more accurate than glock barrels. one thing to be aware of are the chambers, i.e. they are tighter, so that you have to be careful with reloads that may not chamber freely. some brands of brass are better for reloading. the plunk test with the barrel in question will verify this situation.

My indoor range only runs out to 20 yards. But slow fire i got 3 shot groups 4 times 1&5/8" biggest 1&3/8" tighest. Thats the only time ive shot that distance with 115 fmj range ammo. Also thats an 8" target not an official slow fire target so the bull was pretty tuff to see running dawson open target sights. But i think @75 feet & a real slow fire targets i could probably hold about 2" wich i would consider very fine shooting.

Why would you hard chrome a glock barrel? Is it something to do with the poly rifling and lead? Or to add a few mills to tighten bore size? I thought factory glock bbls were stainless. Hard chrome the bore, and you are adding inconsistancy to it. Something I am missing here?

Now that you may have been talked out of an aftermarket barrel, perhaps the next thing is to see if you can be talked out of the hard chrome. If for some reason I wanted my Glock barrel to be shiny I would probably look around here and read about how some have polished the barrel rather than plate/paint/chrome it.
Nickel/boron is the way to go. It will make the barrel and or slide so easy to clean!

Glock has advertising saying their major components are almost has hard as a diamond ,which is some type of melonite treatment making it already very good coating. It might would be a waste of money getting some other type of metal treatment / coatlng done. I'm not claiming to be a expert but i would do some research on it.

I purchased a "match grade barrel, yes I do feel like my groups have tightened up, but on every ejected shell there is a black streak? like gas escaping? i put my factory glock 19 gen 4 barrel back in and shells now are clean. Is this bad or normal condition should I contact the company I purchased barrel from?

The black on the brass is gas from the powder burning this nothing to be alarmed about its usually happens when firing lower power rounds that's not creating enough pressure to expand the brass to the chamber walls of the barrel.I would say that the chamber is a thousands or two larger then the stock barrel. The brass is not completely expanding / sealing off the gas when fired.

Firearm Gun Trigger Gun accessory Gun barrel
Not an end all comparison but I have a LW barrel that I can not get to feed consistently, tried breaking it in with about 300 rounds of constant IA drills then by polishing the feed ramps. It got a little better but not enough that I trust it. I bought a G19 barrell that looked very well worn and the barrel was filthy, unknown year or history ($40). I cleaned it and hand polished the exterior and it works flawlessly. I won't buy another barrel until I need the edge in competition or decide to get a surpressor.
