I am happy for you welcome to GT, the G-43 is nice and should serve you well, I am curious though as to why seven rounds of 9mm in a G-43 is better in your opinion than the ten rounds of .40 you had in a G-27?
Was it caliber, carry, or both that made you step down?
Don't get me wrong, a G-43 is a nice Glock, but carrying one, and shooting one, to me other than the slimness of the G-43, is about the same.
I had stopped carrying mine as it was too heavy and bulky. Figured it wasn't helping me out sitting at home not being carried. Probably the next gun I get will be the G30.
Congratulations on your new G43. I bought mine about this time last year and it has become my favorite Glock. It's the only gun that I take to the gun range every single trip I make.
I added Talon rubber grips, TFO night sights and Pearce +1 magazine extensions to the factory magazines. It has yet to have one bobble of any kind, regardless of the ammunition brand, power level or bullet weight that I feed it.
I don't own a G26 or G27. Although many others like them, to me they feel like a little brick. I have shot them which belong to friends so I'm not unfamiliar with them. I do own a Walther P99 compact which, like the G26, is a double stack 10 round gun.
I'm 6'2" and pretty lean and learned that the compact double stacks offer no advantage over my G19 or PPQ. For me anyhow. It's the thickness which counts. So I don't carry the P99 compact anymore either.
In warm weather tee shirts and shorts the G43 is my carry choice. For jacket and coat weather I'll take the Glock 19 or PPQ. But, that's just me and we are all different and should choose what's best for ourselves.
Again, good choice in your G43. Shoot it in good health.
Whatever you do, don't screw up its internals by replacing parts with "Wolf" this and "Ghost" that. The compulsion to screw up your Glock with aftermarket parts is powerful, and is driven largely by excess testosterone. And for the love of all that is good, forget aftermarket baseplates and Magguts. Run 1,000 rounds through the gun to get acquainted with. Maybe add a Talon grip (rubber, not sandpaper), but that's it. Leave the gun completely stock. Leave your mags completely stock, like God and Gaston intended. Make Powernoodle happy.
Welcome to Glock talk. And enjoy your 43. I have had one for about three months. No internal changes, just talon grip and different sights. I would have kept your 27 and converted it to 9MM but that's just me. I have a 26 that is as old as dirt but the 43 is much easier to carry.
Yes, that's what Glock calls it, but not what some other makers call their similar sized handguns.
Walther doesn't call their P99 or PPQ guns compacts, but they do call the 10-round P99c a compact. Same with FNS and Smith. The FNS-9 compact is a 12 round gun similar to the 12-round M&P 12 compact.
Just because Glock, or anyone else, names a gun a compact or sub-compact or full sized doesn't mean that others must follow that size naming format. Full size, compact and sub-compact are generic terms with no specific size metrics. Glock and other makers can call their guns anything they want.
But, I think you knew exactly what I was talking about with my "compact double stacks" comment before you replied.

no, compact is generally a relative term. The full sized gun is the G17. The compact version of it, is the 19. The 26 is the sub-compact. The 43 is the slim/SS sub compact.

I had TFOs on my G23, and they were ok. They were bright as kcuf in daylight and complete darkness; but hardly visible in dim light (think indor ranges/dusk/inside your home). I also wasn't as accurate with them as I was with Glock factory sights.
I put Meprolight Tru-Dots on my G19, and was instantly sold. Took the TFOs off of my G23 and replaced them with the Mepro Tru-Dots. Now hitting the bullseye is like 2nd nature, once again.
I also have no more worry of the front fiber optic/tritium insert falling out of my TFOs.
Very nice & welcome-i'm sure you'll enjoy it! just wondering,i purchased a 43 in Feb.& it doesn't say Austria, that is to say mine's made here? anyone no the difference? Thanks & again..Welcome

I carry my 43 a lot. It's just about the perfect size for comfortable concealed carry. I have Pearce plus one extensions on several mags, and Vickers plus two extensions on a couple mags. They all shoot reliably for me with a variety of ammo. My 43 eats ammo like candy, and has never had a malfunction, knock on wood. I also put Talon grips on it, and Glock oem night sights.
I like carrying mine in a Desantis mini belt scabbard. It's very comfortable and I hardly notice it's there.
