Full FDE RTF2 (colored polymer frame, cerakoted slide) with Ameriglo I-Dot front sight and Wilson plain black rear sight, available in G17 and G19. The usual Tango Down accessories. $10 higher MSRP than previous models to account for the added cerakote. 3k G19 pistols and 2k G17 pistols. LAV suffix serial number like the first run of FDE pistols.
Love my Vickers 19 in Grey and is a favorite pistol of mine.
Except for the Cerakoted slide, I think the new one is more of the same. What would have pushed me over the fence in favor of buying one is if it had a threaded barrel, 3.5 connector and fingerless grooves. IMO!
Larry, if you watching…what would REALLY get me excited about buying another Vickers Tactical Glock would be if it was a "GILLY" based gen3. I'd like to know how many others agree!
LAV has said that he hates the fish gills and thinks they aren't grippy enough. I will hand it to him though... he's always said that he prefers the 17 and 19 gen3, and despite what I'm sure would be an easy way to introduce variety into the line up, he's resisted making anything except 17 and 19 gen3 pistols. The idea of carrying a G19 RTF2 IWB isn't not one that appeals to me, and I already own one of the LAV 17's, so I'm not sure what would convince me to buy another of this run unless I stumble across a screaming good deal down the road. Otherwise I'm just collecting for collecting's sake, and there are too many other things on the "want" list for me to buy duplicates just to have them.
I get what you're saying. However, my point is the opposite... that it's not exclusively a "business decision". He feels like the most reliable Glocks are 9mm. He's also said that your best bet is the 17; but if you can't use the 17, then go with the 19. He likes the gen3 but wishes they were more grippy (thus the reason for the RTF2), and he doesn't feel like the gills are functional. This is the reason why we end up with a rotation of G17 and G19 gen3 RTF2 normally-serrated pistols over and over again. He's had a hand in designing the parts that are on the pistols as well so they are setup like he wants them.
Not saying he won't ever switch it up, but at that point it would seem to be all about making money rather than putting out something that is setup the way he prefers (while obviously making money). Plus apparently he's still at the mercy of what Glock will do for him. Lipseys and LAV can exercise some pressure on Glock, but they still do what they want. Otherwise, there would be a no-finger-groove version out already. (He said he's also pushing for OD frames.) It's also apparently why they HAVE to ship the Tango Down parts out in a baggie instead of installed on the pistol.
Based on this run, I almost wonder if the next run will be full gray.
I understand exactly what you're saying and giving us an insight into how Larry puts out these Glock pistols. Thank you for that! All I'm saying is that maybe Larry can learn to love the "fish gills." LOL. Thanks again.
I'd like to have seen it in BFG.. Since he was an Army guy... I thought that would be next.. I'll sit this round out. They Grey ones IMHO were the best to date.. I bought both the G19 and the G17
I had a chance to look at one today, and this dealer was asking $669. The cheapest Vickers I have ever seen (and this is coming from someone who has owned 4 of them) was $619. $625 would be a good price for sure in my area (New Orleans).
I bought one of the last run for $535 plus shipping. $625 is fair. Chances are that you'll see the price come down some. Then once they dry up, the price goes way up. However, he seems to be churning them out at a faster pace so the last run hasn't even gotten to that point yet.
I've been reading nothing but negative comments about this new Vickers Glock. Everybody seems to be passing on it. I think the new front serrations glock is pretty cool though. I think I'm gonna snag one up.
