Went to a gun show this past weekend thinking I would pick up a G42 if I found one for a reasonable price. One booth had one for $400 and another one for $350. I asked the guy what the difference was. He said the one that was $350 was bought, returned the next day, but never even fired. Needless to say I pointed at it and said SOLD! Should compliment my G26 nicely.

Nice, last week a member posted about Midway USA selling Glock mags cheap during a one day sales event. I ordered two Glock factory finger rest magazines (2@$24 ea / $48 total shipped).
I received them yesterday and will break them in next range session.
My wife and I both have one and enjoy shooting them, although I like playing with mine at the range, I don't think I would CC it EDC, but in an emergency I would not turn one down either.
Nice little toy.

Nice buy. It's a great little concealment gun when your G26 is too bulky to carry with what you might be wearing. Be aware the gun has a very stiff recoil spring and will take some time to loosen up. Break it in with ammo that's 95 grain or more. You'll get a lot of stove piping if you use lighter ammo. Once broken in the gun is a great little shooter.

LOVE mine! Got it to replace my early model (without sights) LCP. If I'd had the newer LCP with real sights I probably would never have gotten it though. Sure GLAD that I did. Love shooting it but somebody tell me WHY .380 ammo is so expensive? More than 9x19 even! WHY?
I carry in cold weather under long pants in a Desantis Apache ankle rig and is so comfortable I can forget I'm wearing it. Warm weather in cargo pocket of my cargo shorts. Not as comfortable as the Desantis but at least its right there.
G19 = Main gun. Was 1911's till got to OLD :-(
G42 = BUG but I don't want a .380 of ANY kind for my main gun for self defense.

The price of .380 ammo has been dropping due to volume and competition, the two things that have made 9mm so inexpensive.
Shop around online, and buy practice ammo in bulk. The 42 is a ball to shoot, and should tolerate a ton of shooting.
Happily, it is also an easy round to reload.

As I understand it, when we(the US) got screwed up w/ a Socialist President who threatened to disarm the populace, many people who had never considered buying a handgun, did just that. A lot of 1st time pistol buyers wanted a pistol that was less expensive, medium size and not quite as powerful as a full tilt 9mm. The .380 filled the bill, and that's what sold the most during the build-up years. Problem was, no ammunition Company or anyone at that time, could have predicted the new found popularity of the lowly .380, and the stocks and manufacturing of .380 ammunition was not any where close to being enough for the demand. And it still is not quite up to where it should be, as the catch up hasn't quite caught up with the still high current demand, hence the high price. It is, after all, just about the same size, manufacturing wise, as a 9mm. It isn't like the Ammunition Companies can slam the cartridge out like it was .22 rimfire.
I am not a fan of .380. While it can do the job up close, ballistically, it is woefully under-powered at more than 7 yds, IMHO. Will it penetrate say like a car side window? Usually, yes, but carry thru power is lacking quite a lot, and the bullet energy just dies after any penetration.
Of course, no, I would not like to get shot with it, either.
As to the G42; Oh yes, it is a keen little pistol that puts the other .380's out there to shame. Easy to carry, easy to use, and just tack driving Accurate. And I do own one and really do like it. So much so, I sold my pristine Walther PPK/S, as I no longer needed that heavy, stiff trigger pull, mule kicking, sharp edged monster, 007 or not! LOL!

Depending on date of manufacture you may need to replace the connector with an updated OEM minus connector (Glock part #33564).

I sent in my pre model 03 mags for a free exchange with Glock for 03 magazines. Just call their customer service for info.

Even with 03 mags I had some FTFs so I ended up sending in the pistol to have Glock look at it. Totally seemless process, Glock pays for overnight shipping both ways. Great customer service.

Do yourself a favor and look at the new ETS G42 7 and 9 round mags (http://www.etsgroup.us/ETS-Glock-42-380-Caliber-7-round-mag-p/glk-42.htm) for $17 and $22 respectively. I bought mags for my 42 and 43 to test. The ETS mags I bought for my 19 and 34 have been flawless.
