When my wife was active duty. She could get free (or at least highly discounted) tickets to area events. They knew if events would be sold out (few tickets) or lite crowds expected (lots of tickets). It just made sense. Hockey game half empty arena? Or 3/4 full, sales of shirts, hats, good, drink, parking... Even with free tickets major sporting events can cost a LOT.

IMO if not secret, no "consideration" expected. Why not.

One area city Officers are NOT allowed to accept any discount on duty (or off of course based on profession). Even free up of coffee. Next town they wanted to give me free chow because I was sitting, riding with them. Thing is most Officers I noticed gave HUGE tips when meal cheap, free.

Just curious as to why the State of Arkansas cares??? I could see if it was to the agencies in the immediate area, how a person could accuse them of trying to influence the outcome of future potential calls for service. But even then, how many various city and county officials get invited to games as guests? Ridiculous...

I always paid what was rung up a the register.

There was a time when I frequented a Dunkin Donuts. They were open at 0600 and I could get a cup of coffee and a bagel for $1.50. One day the cup of coffee and the bagel cost me $15.00. I paid it without saying a word.

People get goofy about gratuities. I had a sergeant back in my patrol days who thought it was unethical to use your fuel reward points card when filling up your cruiser on the city's fleetcard.
