Aliengear 3.0 vs Stealthgear Ventcore Mini

I currently have a Stealthgear for my main carry and I love it. I recently bought a new gun for summer carry and am obviously in need of another holster. I'm gravitating towards the Stealthgear but I have never tried an aliengear and have heard a lot of good things.. including the fact that it's 1/3 of the cost.

Has anyone out there tried both? Looking for input.

I've been hoping someone would reply to your question, because I've been trying to decide the same thing. I've carried using a Stealthgear holster for sometime, and love it. It was actually my first IWB holster and I can't imagine anything being more comfortable. Most of the time I forget it's even there.

So now that I'm wanting to purchase another holster for a different gun, I find my self curious about some of the cheaper priced holsters. Over a hundred bucks for a holster vs. 45$ is quite a difference, but if it's not comfortable I'm willing to pay that price.

Sorry I can't answer your question, hopefully someone will be along that can.

I recently purchased a stealthgear and it arrives tomorrow.
The general consensus from the videos that I could stomach to watch was the aliengear was hot, had a tighter retention and covered a bit more of the trigger guard.
As you know I am sure the stealthgear was more comfortable and breathes so its not as hot to wear.
I opted stealthgear and am anxious to try it out.

I tried the alien gear and did not like it. I sent it back and they refunded 100% of my money. Excellent customer service. I have a friend that ordered one and loves it. This is just my opinion on my experience and in no way saying the alien gear is not a holster that would work for you.
Pros
Interchangeable kydex so you can change guns and just order the "kydex" and use the same backing.

Cons for me
Stitching around the edge "itched" my skin really bad, to the point it left a "rash" in about half a day. I'm not allergic to anything and wouldn't really consider myself having sensitive skin but it just irritated me.
For me, and this is just my opinion, the crossbreed with leather backing was more comfortable to wear all day.
And last I have seen a few videos of the backing "wearing a hole" in it where the gun rides. Alien gear will replace it but the ones I saw had happened in a short amount of time, like 6 months, so for me I wouldn't want to have to wait on a new backing every 6 months or so. Guess it depends on how often you carry too.
Once again this is just my opinion and I'm sure there are a lot of happy alien gear holster owners out there that have a different opinion. Happy Searching and keep us posted on what you decide on and how it works out.

A lot of people like Alien Gear and they do have awesome customer service. Some of the parts/clips they use however are not the best. Out of the two I would go with the stealth gear. Not to say the Alien Gear is bad but you can tell the price difference if you compare them. Alien Gear is probably the best in their price range of $45ish and they are comfortable.

Are you set on a Hybrid Type Holster?

I own both of these for my G19. I started out with the AlienGear. Like the holster with how soft it was and how you could customize everything. When I really started focusing on carrying I noticed that I could not get a high grip on the gun using the AG. The neoprene also got soak and wet when I started sweating.

With the StealthGear it concealed better and I could get a really well grip on the gun. I didn't have that issue with with the StealthGear.

Since then I have actually moved my carry position from 4 to 3 oclock and started using a full kydex holster.

Just remember you get what you pay for.

I'm not rich enough to have a drawer full of holsters and have no experience with StealthGear, but I wore my compact 9mm in my Alien Gear 2.0 Cloak Tuck for a considerable time yesterday and had no discomfort or fatigue.

I always wear a wife beater undershirt between my skin and holster so I cannot speak to the issue of itch or irritation.

I also like the fact that I can order shells that fit other pistols for $12 that switch out in minutes. That's hard to beat when new CCW pistols are seemingly being introduced right and left these days. Versatility is a big plus for me.

I like my Alien Gear 3.0 a lot. No movement, conceals well and I bought different Kydex shells for my G23, G29, G30S and 1911 Defender. I don't use it every day but when I know I'm going to be in and out of the car and on my feet all day that's my first go to holster.

For the value and options, Aliengear is hard to beat. I've found my Cloak 3.0 IWB is very comfortable at my 4 (the mag carriers are good too). However I hear a lot of good things about the Ventcores, especially where heat and sweat are concerned, and I'll probably pick one up at some point. I'd say consider the costs, and how much hot weather and sweating you anticipate, then make the call from there. I don't think you'll be overly disappointed either way, but you never know when it's such a subjective thing. So buy both.

I have both, Stealthgear and Alien 3.0. I am a small guy so I use the alien gear in the winter when I carry my G19. The reason is that the Alien gear is not breathable and in the warm weather it gets uncomfortable. When the weather gets warmer, I carry the G43 and switch to the StealthGear Ventcore. The Ventcore breaths so much better. Both good holsters, but the breathability in warmer weather, the StealthGear wins out.
