This is the black rifle forum so I'm gonna lay down. So I'm sure some of you know of BCM FILTHY 14? Well a certain gun company 2 years gave me the green light to do a Filthy 14 BFH version so I did. It's a hammer forged barrel vs mil-stnd 11595 barrel. My review on the rifle is done the video part is done and almost done with the write up.
My whole point of this review I will tell it to you all now as I told Paul's crew at Bravo Co is this I'm not doing this for a strike at fame, I am doing this for Bravo Company free of charge..this review is to answer the many many questions for new buyers of bcm rifles. They always ask about justifying spending 90 extra bucks on a BFH barrel compared to mil 11595e barrel because "look what FILTHY 14 did on a standard barrel, ya it went round 40k rounds and that's great. And it still holds 2.5 in groups at 50 yards. Mine shoots 3/4 moa with the same round count with the hammer forged barrel and same 40k rounds. I'm excited about this. Feel free to ask questions but I can't answer too much until I get the go ahead from my buddies.
Also I am in no way shape or form working for ANY gun company. I'm doing this to better answer all those question. There was always data on the standard barrel especially since filthy14 came to light. So customers looking for a upper most of them have an idea of what a hammer forged barrel is. My review is going to show what a hammer forged barrel can do under very harsh conditions and non stop weekend trainings with my local PD.
In other news, ... there's now official proof that once upon a time American families actually got together after dinner and practiced firearms safety and marksmanship techniques ... instead of proning-out in front of the Boob-Tube for their nightly brain-numbing dosage of fake news.
Bcm rifles are higher quality period over colt. Colt doesn't have a hammer forged Barrel and Colts make lame-ass 16 inch barrel carbine gas system rifles.
I, for one, am impressed at your command of the relevant facts as pertaining to the Colt product line vs. the BCM equivalent... Your extensive rhetoric and command of the English language is clearly beyond reproach.
Still, posting this rant in the wrong forum casts you in the silken pink gown of a loser...

You wanna talk education. Okay let's do that. The reason your 16 in carbine length gas system is reliable is because it is waaaay overgassed. That amount of dwell time is way over kill and even with an h3 buffer, your bcg is unlocking too fast for its own good. But hey what do I know. If you want a 7 in gas system at least rock a 14 inch barrel. [emoji31]

For quite a few that care to run chap ass ammo, the carbine gas system works just fine.
Most of all the mid length gas rifles have a gas port that is oversized. The rifles that ARE built well are at the top of the price range. Quality engineering and components costs a few Benjamins
One of my Colts has at least that, so what is your point?
My carbines don't malf
I only shoot NATO spec ammo, usually M193 or M855
If you think that BCM is that much better, well, go ahead
BCM makes good stuff
Colt makes good stuff
My Colt barrel has the correct size gas port for it's 14.5 in length
I use a Sprinco Blue springs and H2 buffers
I inspect the bolt at every cleaning, and will replace it with a spare when it does fail
I inspect all other parts for wear or problems when cleaning
I check for throat erosion and will retire the barrel when it becomes an issue
I can't speak to the quality level of Colt's current production firearms, but the other day when I was looking at my Officer's Match .22 revolver from 1930, I was struck by the craftsmanship that went into guns in those days. The skill the machinists at those companies had back then is astonishing.
I have a Colt and a BCM right here, sitting right next to me.
Colts are excellent, but the BCM is better. If you feel like paying more for a hardcore, more advanced rifle. BCM is way beyond milspec. I can get the latest cutting edge enhanced lightweight hammer forged barrels and keymod rails from them. I can get a freefloat, 14.5", middy, with a PWS 556 flash comp pinned on from BCM. Nothing like that on the Colt side of the fence.
BCM is like half price KAC or Noveske.
I should also add, you're supposed to take the 16" Colt 6920 or 6921 upper off and send it to ADCO to get chopped down to 14.5 with a nice pinned flash comp. Then they're perfect KISS rifles.
