More trigger work..

So I think I should have just went with a full on drop in zev trigger or another brand with the same goal. I have a apex trigger with gen 3 trigger bar. Zev 3.5 lb race connector and the zev race spring kit or something like that. And I'm satisfied with it right now... but I actually haven't even fired it yet. Just a bunch of dry fires. And I can already tell I want more.

My question is is their more I can do for shorter take up and lighter pull? Or do I just need to drop the $250 on a full on drop in trigger and spring kit

You are clueless. Really really profoundly youtube and aftermarketer BS clueless!

Just practice with the all-OEM pistol with no aftermarket BS gimmicks installed. As soon as you start installing the garbage you mention, you no longer have a weapon. What was once an excellent weapon becomes only a range toy.

Not enough information-you didn't tell us what you are doing with this gun. Race gun-range toy, SD, EDC? For what it's worth, for an EDC gun, I'd never go that far with trigger work. A little tweaking, after 4 or 500 rounds, but never less than 4.75-5# for me...Range toys, different story. I'm not a fan of the adjustable triggers, but I do a little more. Depends mostly on the role. My range guns are relegated to range time and my SD guns get work as both. My semi-raced up G19 will never find it's way into my console as a truck gun...

But all of that being said, making the mods and not shooting it before you decide that you want more does seem ludicrous...

You mean, you already want to change out the aftermarket parts that you haven't actually tested by live fire?

Wow I realize I didn't give enough information and was going to get attacked like that. No this is not my first glock. I do shoot competitions. And I have fired the gun! Just haven't shot it with the parts I just put in it! And just dry firing I can tell it's not what I was expecting. So exuse me for not giving enough info. I guess I deserve the attack that I got. If I would have read over what I wrote I would have realized that I sounded stupid.

So I'm that case. I have a glock 17 gen 4 mos. Put well over 1k rounds through it bone stock before I ever even put a magwell on it. Now shooting more competitions I feel that a trigger would help me with more consistent shots. And with the flat face trigger it's just more comfortable. So now that y'all know more info. Can y'all point me in the direction I should go. Already have the apex trigger. Gen 3 trigger bar. Zev 3.5lb race connector. Zev spring kit (fireing pin spring, plunger spring and trigger spring) and every part is polished on the gun.

Well, that sure puts a different spin on things. At this point, I think you'll have to step up with more $$ unfortunately. There might be an area of engagement that might benefit from a couple of hundred rounds; but I'm not sure you'll see the level of improvement you're looking for. To get that extra bit, you'll need parts that change the geometry; not just a trigger job.

Sorry for the earlier snideness.

Mr. Taylor, I don't think you were attacked, but were instead met with genuine disbelief.

Many here come from the school of thought that whatever the aftermarket product is, be it a trigger, disconnector, etc., that it has to at least be road tested through actual live firing before being deemed unacceptable or not good enough. It would be my suggestion that before you go any farther in this experiment that you put a couple hundred rounds through the pistol with your current mods intact...you might even find the results after such a period of time to be acceptable. But if not, you should seriously consider another platform as the basis for a competition gun.

yea i guess what i was getting at was that i figured just by dry firing i was going to expierience more of a difference in the pull and the feel than what i actually got. i suppose i set my expectations a bit high for only spending $100 or so. and drewbone, i did not deem it unacceptable or not good enough, like i said just expected a different outcome. i know that building a competition gun takes $$$$ and range time. i guess i just am getting impatient and want a full on competition gun sooner rather than later and want to be out there knocking plates down haha!
