Hello Everyone,
I am in the market to purchase an new handgun and I am looking to sell my G23 to my brother and purchase a G35. I was wondering what type of accuracy can I expect to see out the G35 over the G23? I also noticed that the top of the slide was lightened with a porting hole. What type of aftermarket threaded barrel would you suggest? I would like to get something in TINI or the copper color I forget the name of that finish. Thank you for any advice you can provide.

I absolutely love my Gen 4 G35. It is my favorite Glock, and I have a few. :)

Not sure you will get any better accuracy than your G23. It will be easier to shoot well as the longer sight radius and better trigger (- connector is also available for the G23) make shooting warm 40's very pleasant.

As far as an aftermarket barrel, wasted money.

No need to get an aftermarket barrel unless you reload and shoot lead bullets. If your doing it for a suppressor, KKM makes a great barrel. The 35 is a nice pistol but too big,in my opinion, if you plan on using it as a ccw piece. The G23 is a great gun and if you want a longer barrel, get a barrel for a G22. You can have the best of both worlds-compact and ability to have a threaded barrel.

I've had a G35 for about 10 years and It's been a great gun. Dropped in a LW 357 Sig barrel and it shoots more accurately with it than with the 40 barrel. Don't know if it's because of the inherent accuracy of the 357 or what, but it's very accurate. Also I have a LW 9mm barrel for it, but the 357 Sig is the most accurate in this gun. I used this G35 as my duty gun for several years, in 357 Sig. Also used it in several tactical handgun classes, and some long range shooting/training. The factory 40 caliber setup works just fine, but this particular pistol in 357 Sig is amazing, and functions 100% reliably.

Safariland makes a light mounted duty type holster for the G35, and also their ALS #6377. I'm sure there are others available, but I have experience with the Safarliands.

I put a G24 Conversion barrel in my G35.

Makes hitting clay pigeons at the 100yard berm easy with the .357 Sig round.

ALL Glock compact models (19, 23, 32, 38) accept OEM barrels of NO OTHER LENGTH. Compact models are the least versatile of all Glocks in this and other characteristics.

(It appears likely that the grossly redesigned G17M barrel may fit the G19M.)

Love my G35. It was a police trade-in, so it was a lot cheaper than a new one, and it came with night sights. Don't know if it's the longer sight radius or what, but I definitely shoot better with it than I do with my G23. I also have a 357 barrel for it.

Thank you everyone for the great information. I am looking at the MOE version any recommendations on a red dot for long distance shooting? Also is the 35 accurate at long distance using the stock 35 barrel 40 s&w barrel? I also wanted to change out the sights for night sights does anyone have any recommendations for distance shooting which can also be used for home defense?

LOVE my Gen4 G35!

Mine came to me used with Dawson adj sites. They where very nice but had to be removed when I had the slide milled for a RMR.

This will be a fun competition gun for me and so far has shown to be very accurate!

Good luck with yours!

Cwlongshot,
That's great to hear! I just picked up my Glock 35 this week. I cannot wait to take it to the range! I was wondering what type of accuracy do you get out the handgun and at what distances? Do you find that this model can shoot more accurately at long distances compared to other Glocks? Also have you ever had any malfunctions due to the cut in the slide for weight reduction? I would certainly appreciate any input you could provide.

Also have you ever had any malfunctions due to the cut in the slide for weight reduction?
On the contrary...malfunctions would be MORE frequent WITHOUT those slide cuts.

The cuts in the slide are not there to reduce the weight of the pistol per se. The cuts are there only to reduce slide mass and thus assure adequate slide recoil velocity for proper pistol function with cartridges on the lower-loaded, lower-momentum ("power factor") end of the spectrum. A recoil-operated autopistol with slide too massive shows exactly the same types of malfunctions as does "limp wristing".

Outside that, it would have been better if slide mass reduction had not been required for proper pistol function. Anything that contributes to heavier muzzle-weight contributes to a better-shooting handgun.

In 40, I have the 35, 22, 23 and a 27, the 22 and 23 are the least used guns I have. The 22 is an RTF with gills so I will keep it. The 23 is too big to conceal easily and too small for a range gun. I would sell my 23, but maybe only because I have the 27 and a 43 that I carry. If I only owned one Glock for carry and range, it would likely be the 23. I have 9mm conversion barrels for all my 40’s, 100% reliable. By the way the 23 barrel fits in the 27, the lugs are the same, it’s just a ½” longer.

I really wanted to keep the 23 and the 35 but due to funds I have to sell it to purchase the other. I think the Glock 35 will serve me better for tactical courses, home defense and range shooting over the G23 but only time will tell. Do you like your G35 do you get good accuracy out of this firearm over the other Glock models?

Mike-M,
Thank you for the great explanation on the reason for the slide frame cut. I was actually wondering if there has been a problem due to elements getting into the gun through the slide cut. Would it gum up the internals? I plan on using this firearm for defensive training courses and range shooting.
