I need to replace a 19 that I let go. I also want to present my son with a new 19 for his 21st birthday. I had the thought of acquiring a consecutive numbered pair. Is there a reasonable way to do this?
Never had to do it myself.. but if I were... I would go to my LGS and ask the guys to order me two identical 19s with consecutive serial numbers. They should be able to source that from their distributor.
It should be possible. It's all up to your LGS. On numerous occasions, my own LGS has received consecutive serial numbered Glocks. These were not specially ordered but just arrived that way from the distributor. Checking early with what your dealer has in stock may help. If you are short on time, they may charge you a fee.
Last summer I bought a G43 with the supposedly improved trigger pull. The dealer said they had just got in about a dozen of the new ones. I took it home and shot the whiz out of it for several days. I went back the next week to the same shop and bought a second G43 for my wife. When I got home I discovered they are consecutive serial numbers.
A nice coincidence but just blind luck. As others suggested, maybe you could just ask. They may already have a pair in stock or could order matched serial numbers for you.
I mean no disresepct but may I ask what the fascination is with consecutive serial numbers on firearms? It's always seemed to me like a dreamt up scheme by a seller to add some kind of increased value that simply doesn't exist between two identical items. It doesn't invoke better functionality in either or both, nor any added wear resistance, or lengthened warranty, or better accuracy, etc. We know the benefit to the seller is $$$, but what's the benefit to the buyer??
Is it instead thought to add good luck or an avenue of sentiment to the buyer? Does the simple act of being in possession of two identical mechanical devices that are sequentially serial numbered increase your odds of winning the Powerball jackpot, or when shared with another as a pair do they somehow magically add more love to that shared relationship or create lifelong special bonds with loved ones??
"Awwww Pa! You got us cornsecatively spherialized spitoons! I'ma gonna' keep mine right here beside yers so we kin spit tuhgetha! Awwww Pa, this's gonna' be great!!! Momma! Come lookit what Pa done did fer us!!!"
Consecutive serial numbers or not. It's. Just. A. Mechanical. Device. LOL.
