LabRadar: Multiple 10mm load data to share

All the following loads were tested the same day in Texas. Temp 70* on a cloudy day. The LabRadar worked fantastic. Unless stated otherwise all loads are Starline NON-virgin. All 180 gr FMJ's are Precision Delta. I load on a Dillon 550 but some loads were hand weighed on a RCBS 5-0-5 (HW). All scales were verified with check weights. Distance was 25 yards. Testing was in a G20 with OEM recoil rod/spring KKM barrel. The STI Perfect 10 has a 6" bbl. I fired app 10 rounds for each except the 200 gr XTP'S which I split between virgin SL Nickel and virgin SL Brass.

Finally: DISCLAIMER - First, let me state the obvious, the load data I have here, is for MY guns. You should work up to these loads in YOUR guns. If you use these loads you do so by first agreeing to hold me harmless for anything that happens to anyone or anything related to the data contained here.

BTW: If someone can explain how to add a screen shot of the LabRadar table it will be a whole lot faster.

Kwesi. Good work. Thanks for bringing us along.

Now, (off topic) let's hear more about that STI! I've been coveting that pistol for quite a while.

With my Labradar I get this with the 10mm.
At 15 yards.

.
That's a big difference unless one or both of our charges varied more than .1gr. I'd expect Win LP's to be hotter than S&B. I did not hand weigh each 9.1 but do check several times. It was a loud & stout load. Very confortable to handle.

Tater: glad to give back to you & the forum. Have you studied my Nickel vs Brass results? They were done with you in mind & your posts re neck tension. The STI just feels so good & balanced. Handles the recoil nicely. I had STI add a Dawson FO front sight.

Does primer "hotness" really correlate with velocity? I would think that any primer capable of igniting all the powder in the case is all you need to get the maximum energy out of the powder.

I've never used quick load, but can anybody that has let us know how the primer choice (on this type of load) relates to velocity?

If I had to guess, I'd bet that the recoil spring rating could have a larger effect on velocity than primer "hotness", at least for a pistol caliber in normal weather.
