I recently won an early square trigger guard S&W model 5906 on GunStroker, for the very reasonable price of $300.01 + shipping. Below's an image that the seller sent me to clarify it's model number, as the original images online were blurry and looked more like "3906" than 5906:
'Looking a little ugly, but I already knew this. But beauty is only skin deep, right?! Anyway, two days ago I picked it up from my FFL and after I got home with it I began the usual process of field strip and inspection...green cheese anyone?
...then of course there was just a wee bit of holster wear and other highlights of numerous dents and scratches. It appeared that the previous owner(s) had used this gun to pound in 10P nails through 3/4" rock maple plywood. It even had an idiot mark from the takedown lever!
Well, no worries. It's only work, so I went about detail stripping of the slide and frame in preparation of some careful filing and sanding.
