your thoughts about the springfield microcompact .45 pistol

Discussion in 'Band of Glockers' started by theTactician, Dec 13, 2005.

  1. Im thinking of getting springfield's MC compact lightweight bi-toner .45 cal pistol. for one thing, its really compact, 6+1, can utilize 165 to 230 gr +P+ loads. its comparable in size to the glock 27. what do you think? Some of my shooting pals say that i should get a full size handgun cause most of my handguns are compact in size like the G23 mariner and the HK USP 9mm. I sold my colt mark 4 series 80 full size several months ago coz i didnt like a full size 1911. im not sure if i will love a "compact" size 1911 though. Maybe im a fanatic of compact size handguns for its concealability. My ideal handgun is one that packs hi-impact firepower and easy concealability.
so, what would you suggest for me?
what are your thoughts regarding the springfield microcompact .45 cal pistol? do you know any of its disadvantages? weaknesses? strengths?
Im asking for your opinion cause i wanted to be sure before i spend money for this.

P.S. I sure would like to buy Para-Ordnance's Para-carry .45 cal pistol but its too expensive as compared to the cheaper springfield MC operator

Do you have a pic? Sounds very interesting. :)

I doubt if we can see that model here in the Philippines.

Springfield = Imbel. Am I correct?

  4. New gun/model and may still be in the de-bugging stage. I'd wait a while for the reviews to come out if I were you. Try for size the Glock 36 in .45 Cal. You might find that it may suit your needs.:)

Ayaw mo ng combat commander? That used to be my carry gun
IMHO , if I can have only 1 gun, that would be it

I would not carry a 1911 shorter than a commander size. Shorter ones can be unreliable at the most needed time. YMMV ;)

  7. +1. Read a couple of reviews on mini .45's. Initial runs of Paras in their sub-compact models were lemons. Also the G36's. However, I think they have already corrected the glitches by now.

In a way, yes. Springfield Armory buys frames and slides from Imbel, but the finishing and final assembly is in the U.S.

This could be compared to the Browning Hi-Powers that had stampings of "Made in Belgium, Assembled in Portugal"

I concur with you, Mang Danny. I wouldn't carry anything shorter than a Commander sized 1911. Try Colt's website: www.coltsmfg.com . They've released a new line up of pistols, and even have a couple of .38 super pistols.

Springfield Armory is testing a micro compact 1911 in .45 GAP. There's not enough data regarding its performance.

  10. actually sirs,i developed the idea of buying springfield's micro compact .45 cal from a magazine that i read here in the united states. its a magazine called "guns and weapons' and so far the reviews are good. im not sure though. i dont trust these americans. hehehe. i'dlike to get the opinion of my fellow bogs and filipino gun colleagues.

I use to have a PT145 Taurus. Its practically the same size as my G26. I can even use G26 holster for it. Advantage, concealability is perfet! I can even use my P14 mag as extra.

Shootability, i say...ok na rin for the size of it. Di mo naman siguro gagamitin sa long range...

Going back to your inquiry, I guess quality wise ok yan. But I bet its a bit pricey...why not go for the PT145? or something cheaper.

Just imagine, a Glock designed ammo in a JMB designed pistol. Hihimatayin ang mga 1911 purists! ;f

for a carry gun i choose the hk usp full sized in 45 acp. since i have used one for years and shot it a lot without any problems. then the 40 version then the 9mm version.

I dont like compact guns since i demand a lot of accuracy. but if i were to choose the smallest gun for carry and not shot a lot it may be the glock 30.

I got a chance to try my friend's Colt's Officer's Model a few years back. The recoil was uncomfortable. I'd go for the Commander.

  18. how about a delta elite? but then its a full size 1911 only a little shorter than your standard full sized 1911s.
