GRRR. Bought an inexpensive Hume clip on IWB holster for my Champion on impulse. Seems well made enough and works as intended except there is no sight clearance at all. The little GI nub front sight stretches the leather when the gun is holstered to the point that you can see the sight sticking up. So, when I change sights, which I plan to do now that Midway sells Colt sights, it will be time for yet another holster. Reminder to self, think before buying, if I had passed on the holster I could have bought another box of 200 Hornady LRN bullets.

I miss the old school holsters like my dad used to make, sewn up with a welt down the front with a built in sight track made of layers of leather stacked up with the middle layer cut back to accomodate the front sight.

if you buy a generic one size fits some holster you cant expect much.

dont put a gun good in a cheap holster.

It isn't one size fits all, it's made for the Colt Commander. I should have opened the bag and examined it more closely, but even then I might not have noticed since I did not have the gun with me. Why the heck would they make it with no front sight clearance, new Commanders come with a high profile front sight.

Not a big deal, just being grumpy today. It was a $29 holster after all, if it had been a hundred dollar "name" brand it would be different. I liked my Hume border patrol that I carried in the service, it was much better than the issue ones.

I wasnt real impressed with the Hume holster I bought for my g21 either. I was very impressed with the last one I bought though, a Galco for my 1911. Its very nice, and the price was just right.

Sounds like the perfect excuse to buy a nice holster once you start customizing you commander.:whistling:
