Not sure about the XDs, but when I held any one of my 7 XD models (service, tactical and sub-compact) loose enough to not engage the grip safety, one shot would have the gun flying out of my hand for sure. The weak hand - XD thing has been going on since it's introduction but if you try to shoot it in any crazy way, it still goes boom.
Anyone gripping a gun that weakly is not likely to hit their target anyway. Why do you suppose Uziel Gal put such an allegedly failure prone part on the Uzi 50 years after the Colt 1903 hit the market and 40 years after the 1911s debut? The 1911 and Uzi have seen a hell of a lot of combat between them. The 1903 is likewise considered a very reliable pistol. I have one made in 1914 that still works fine.
You might get some Noob to shooting to believe this nonsense.
It could also prevent you from shooting any pistol with that hand. You'd be better off switching to the other hand because if your hand is that injured or weak your not going to hit jack with it any way. I believe that's why so many of us practice with both hands. This is and old argument that just doesn't make sense and never did. Real truth is the grip safety is a good idea that takes no manipulation if you grab the pistol the way your supposed to.

Good post. I have a 1903 made in 1931 that is in excellent condition and the GS is easy to disengage on that as well. Funny how nobody ever mentions a weak hand moment for the P7 and it's squeeze cocker, but a grip safety and thumb safety are nails in the coffin.
