I have a chance to trade for a springer XDM in 9MM. with all the tricks and bells that come with it. Any info on these? Pros-cons (other than being a 9MM LOL)? Thanks in advance. Trade fodder is a S&W 686 357 maggie that I dont need.

They need to throw cash in. The S&W is worth more than a XDanything.

Have to disagree with Blueiron. At first I couldn't get used to my XD, but mow I love it. And if you've really got no use for the S&W, I say jump on it. And lay off the 9.

Well, someone has to buy those awkward Croatian projectile throwers with the unnecessary grip safeties...

I will grant you that it's not a graceful looking weapon, but I'll take function over form every time. Besides, give me any weapon and I'll be one of your top shooters.

As for the grip safety, I'll do ya one better, mine's got a thumb safety, too! 1911 style XD for the win!

Which XDM is it? I think the 5 1/4" barrel ones go for a little more.

    It's either a 1911 or it's not. :phew:

I am going to have to go shoot my Colt Python to get the XD[anything] image out of my mind! :number1:

I agree with blueiron. The XDM 9 goes for around $499, the S&W 686 goes for around $600-$700.

To give you an idea, I love my Smith 686. I had three XD's. I dumped them all for glocks. Glocks aren't pretty, but they are a heck of a lot more reliable. Keep the 686. You'll regret that trade later.

This dude. The 686 is worth quite a bit more new or used, and I think the XD blows. Hell, if I ran across a really nice 686 I'd trade a G19 for it in a heartbeat. G19s are a dime a dozen (like Xds - but better than the XD). Smith revolvers are becoming more scarce, and the price keeps climbing.

I'm late to the party, but concur with the majority. There is just something about an L frame that an XD, or any auto, really, will never be.
