Been checking out the reports on the XD Forum. Pretty excited about this one:

    XD-S 9x19
    7+1/9+1 configuration

The guy tested it out in the same holster he uses for the .45ACP model. The pistols are the same size.

March release is what I've read so far, but they may screw that one up like they did for the release last year! This one took a week to come in to the LE shop:

Didn't see a spec sheet yet. Will pass it along when I do, though.

Yes, that's the one I bought long after SA announced it would be released in Spring 2012. I think I got it during the summer/early fall. It only took a week to come in to the shop after I placed the order. Some firearms I've purchased there took months. I just picked up one last week that I put on order in June 2011.

I just posted that there so that everyone would have something to look at.

Yessir. I still haven't put any night sights on mine, yet. It's just fine the way it is. It's a lot of fun at the range, and hasn't jammed/misfed/malfunctioned at all. I carry mine a lot (been splitting time with this one and my subcompact Glocks...) and couldn't ask for more. Except for perhaps an XD-S in 9x19...

Once I picked up the 45 version, felt the grip and pulled the trigger I felt this was a winner. So far it seems on the XD forum this gun has been holding up very well but a few lemons like with any new gun there will be a few. I was amazed for how small it was how great it also felt in the hands. All this excitement to shoot new guns its great and bad, great that we have all these options but bad because the anticipation sometimes blows

Is there a way to pin the grip safety down?

If you grip the gun correctly to fire, it's not a problem at all

Slide looks a little thick for a SS 9.

Aside from the obvious cost of re-tooling a bunch of stuff, why didn't they slim it down for 9mm platform? They took the same gun they run 45acp in and stuck a 9mm barrel and mag in essentially. The only thing you gain is more capacity. It should have a slimmer platform.

If it's the same size as the .45, it's a joke.

They hit a homerun with the .45, but the small 9mm market is much more crowded.
