My son needs more storage space for his laptop and is asking for an external hardrive, 500 gb I think. Can anyone recommend one and where to purchase it?

My thanks in advance for the assistance.

Check the reviews on the drives - I generally shop by the number of reviews, and then the price.

Stay with the leaders - WD, Seagate, Maxtor - and you will usually be just fine.

It would go great with Mozy Remote Backup which will backup to the local USB drive, and also to the "Internet Cloud". It would be REALLY handy should the system ever get ripped off... which *never* happens to college kids... but just might. The data is safe in the 'Cloud' should that happen, and if the hard drive crashes it's easy to do the full data restore from the local USB drive.

Only $60 (or less) per year...

    Think about it...

Why did you take the "CHRIST" out of Christmas?

I agree totally. I personally prefer newegg.com and amazon.com to buy from. newegg has a very useful user rating and comment system and it's easy to sort perspective purchases by ratings and reviews.

does CHRIST come in 500gb capacities? i've never seen that brand advertised before. maybe it's some new drive with USB 3.0 that i haven't seen yet.

It's the Alpha-Omega brand, unlimited hard drive space.

Actually, The Chi Rho symbol (looks like a P and X superimposed) is a very ancient symbol for the Lord. Those who abbreviate X-mas might not realize it, but Christ is still there, the "X" has symbolized Jesus long before the stores took it over

I have a WD 1TB hard drive that I love and I got it for about $100 bucks.

  10. Keep an eye out in Target's clearance isle's in their electronics section. I recently picked up a WD 500gb external on clearance for 29.99 and a WD 1TB external for 39.98.
