Wow Found Some 9mm Ammunition today

Discussion in 'Caliber Corner' started by frankr, Mar 6, 2013.

  1. Went looking for 9mm ammunition today and my last stop was Dick’s Sporting Goods. They had just received about 30 boxes of Remington 9mm FMJ for $14.99 a box of 50.:wow:

  2. Did they put the black modern sporting rifles back on the shelves yet?

I wont even walk in one to find out what they have or don't have.

I understand why you said that but I am glad that they limited it, and here is whyf: I have literally been looking for FMJ for 3 months in 9mm flavor (seriously, 3 months). I have found ZERO, only once found Hornady Zombie Max.
By them limiting the amount, I was finally able to get the FMJ I have been looking for to out to the family land and do some woods shooting. Sure, I wish I could have purchased more today, but now I can go out to the land and blast FMJ and $1 a round Hornady's can be spared I do see your point. I feel the great ammo hoard of 2012/2013 may finally be easing.

I guess that it is best to spread the ammo out to as many people as possible.

  8. I just heard from BassPro that the 150 rds of American Eagle 124gr FMJ that I ordered (backorder) on 01/14 will be shipped in the next 1-2 days (shipped to local BPS store...no shipping charges). Previously (on 02/06), I was told it was going to be on backorder until the end of May (2013...).

    Maybe things are looking up?

I got lucky today and my local Bass Proshop had American Eagle 9mm FMJ 115gr 50 round ($15) and WWB 45acp FMJ 230gr 100 round ($42) in stock today. I picked up 6 boxes of 9 and 2 boxes of 40. There was still boxes on the shelf after my purchase. They also had WWB 100 rounds in 40.

Saw 223 at academy day before yesterday, still no 9mm though. I have a local range that will sell you 5 boxes to use at their range and they don't care how much you take home with you after your session. Not bad but their range is $5 more than my normal spot

  11. If you live around South Elgin, IL, there are about 8 boxes left an hour ago of Federal Fmj 115gr 100 rds for $21.47 at Walmart in South Elgin; and hurry up.

    In the woods.
Called our Wal-Mart at 9 a.m. today and they said they had ammo.

Got there at 10:15 and scored three 100 round boxes of Federal 9mm FMJ at $21.99 each. They had one box of 50 for $13.99.

They had a box of .40, a box of .45 ACP, several boxes Tula .223., and about five 50 round boxes of Winchester .22 LR and a couple of Remington 50 round boxes of 22 LR.

Had the usual bunch of shotgun shells and .22 Short, .243, .17, other odds and ends.

First time I've found anything for a couple of months (last BIG score was four boxes of 50 Federal Classic JHP at $15.99 per and that must have been two months ago).

On your find of 9mm ammo. Shoot it carefully and sparingly.

What would we do if it weren't for WalMart ammo?

    We'd be paying about 40-50% mark-up elsewhere.

The trick is to call Walmart before 6am when they are stocking shelves and find out their inventory for that day (don't always get every caliber) and what time they plan on stocking the shelf.

Then get there at least 10 minutes before and hover like a bum at a gas station! "Can you spare some ammo?"

    In the woods.
    Southern MN.

The way it works at this one is this--on the RARE day they actually do get some ammo:

They get the shipments of merchandise in the day before and the stuff gets sorted out during the night and stuff they need will go on the shelves.

Not ammo, though. That gets special security and will not hit the store shelves until about 8 a.m.

By noon shelves are bare. Most days they don't get any ammo anyway.

Happened to go to the Williston WM today they had six boxes of 30-06 and two boxes of 30-30 in the locked ammo shelfs. That was the sum total for the store, what surprised me was they only had maybe half a case of 20 ga,total. Two cases of various 12 ga. it's starting to effect shot gun shells. SJ 40
