Let's see if this photo works, don't mind the glove finger at the bottom of the pic.
Nice! Is that one of the DRZ's? I've gotta confess, I know little about dual sports, though I'd like to buy one this season for a little variety.
The motorcycling out there is the only reason I applied to UC Davis and Loyola for law school.
What day was that pic taken? It got cold and windy today here on the mountain and they are forcasting snow on friday & saturday.
The bike is a DRZ S and it's a hoot. Not great at 70 mph but I'm an old man and shouldn't be riding that fast anyway. I've dropped the gearing down to a 14/47 combination for a bit more low end grunt and the results make me smile every time I get on the scooter.
The photo was taken Sunday the 12th., about 25 miles from Visalia. The temp. was in the low 70's.
Thought the terrain looked familiar, I am 55 miles east of Delano. It is 11:43 a.m. here and only 30 degrees and the friggin' sun is shinin', looks like it might be a cold weekend.
Thanks for the reply post, enjoy that zuk.
Wow! its 39 in Chicago-land. We hit 56 yesterday.
mtnflk75, are you in the Glenville area?
Actually 13 miles above Glennville on Highway 155. I live in Alta Sierra, just below Shirley Meadows Ski Lodge. It is now clouded up and the temp is 27 degrees, if we get any moisture it will be snow.
mtnflk75, nice area. I spent many weekends hunting deer all over Greenhorn Mt. in my youth. Is the road from what used to be Davis Guard Sta. to Keysville still open? That would be a good ride on the scooter.
Yes, it is still open, but is really rugged. I ran it last year several times on my utility quad, last dirtbike trip was in 2004. It is really a two jeep type trail for 4-wheelers, both with lockers and winches..;o) The last time I ran it from the bottom in a Jeep, made it about 2/3's up and crushed a muffler and rocker panel, that was about 5-6 years ago. It just hasn't been maintained over the years.
Be thankful you can still ride almost everyday in the winter.
We have to watch the forecasts VERY closely up here. Here's the past week for us:
Feb 11 afternoon temp= 25, snow.
Feb 14 afternoon temp= 68, sunny.
Feb 16 afternoon temp= 19, snow.
Makes it a little more challenging to plan a trip more than one day in advance.
I'm just jealous.
