    I have WMP 8 as default with XP. Should I switch to 9 or 10? Are these more prone to "calling home"? On a side note, I notice some videos will play with 9 but not 8 and vice versa. Confused as hell! ;P

    WMP 8 = BAD.

    WMP 9 = WORSE.

    WMP10 = SPAWN OF SATAN!!

    Get WinAmp5 and usi it instead. Learn how to turn off all of the spyware features contained in both it and WMP8.

    Both will send info to the mothership regarding the content of your hard drive, but M$ products have the audacity to look for copyright infringement, shared P2P folders and the like as well.

    WMP 10 has locked those features down, and also made it buggy as heck - and virtually impossible to remove completely!

    Pure evil, I tell you.

    10 works great for me. But then again so does xp, and ie! never a single problem with any microsoft product.
