I was reading in this forum a few weeks ago about Win Ranger .40 cal, 135 gr. being snappy? I thought Mas Ayoob had commented on it too. I shot that ammo today out of a G23. I thought the recoil was noticeably less than anything else I was shooting so far. I was doing some function/reliability testing. Everything else was 165 & 180 gr, so obviously there would be some difference. I did install a S.S. recoil spring & a plastic buffer also. Does anybody else have the same finding? Thanks. Stay safe.

The following is all second hand information so feel free to check up on me. If I remember right, the 135 grain Ranger .40 is loaded pretty modestly. I think that one was actually designed for the Border Patrol several years ago to have a load that was easier to control and also didn't cause as much wear on their handguns. Their old load was a 155 grain Remington load that was pretty hot, causing it to be very snappy and caused excessive wear on their guns. You wanna shoot a snappy 135 grain .40, try Corbon or DoubleTap. They load theirs nice and hot.

    Thing is there's no +P in 40.
And some like it hot - LOL!

.40 is already at max safe pressures.

+p is for 100 year old rounds like the 9mm or .38 special.

For whatever reason all .40 SD ammo is NOT created equal.
