    Why to tabs appear in different colors?

    If you're asking about tabs in internet browsers, I recall seeing that some color code the tabs so that the children of the parent tabs will have the same colors.

    Yes - Different colored tabs while on IE 9.

    Say that you have a red and a blue tab up. You then click a few links in the red page. The subsequent tabs should be red. This should allow you to more easily find these wayward children by looking for red tabs. When you close out the last of the children, you can head right back to where you left off at the original red tab.
