    Muskogee Ok.
I quit smoking a hella long time ago, but I started in College. I started because every time I would turn around some one would say smoking is bad and you shouldn't do it, so I did it:supergrin:

I suppose because mom, dad, grandma, aunts, uncles, parents friends, etc, all had a cig hanging outta their mouths. I'm going on week three not smoking real cigs, using an E-Cig to slowly stop all together.

The Devil made me do it.

I didn't start until college and am chagrined to admit, I fell into the 'everyone else is doing it' trap and once in the Navy, cigarettes were cheap and smoking was common. My parent both smoked, so it was usual for me.

And, like okie, I enjoy irritating the hippie socialists.

I grew up in a smoking family and oddly enough, my parents both quit when I took it up in high school. I smoked for the next twenty-one years and quit in 2000. HH

Never started. My mom made me visit a relative (great uncle?), with a big ****ing hole in the side of his neck, filled with nasty smelling/looking pus and mucus.

He was at end stage emphysema or lung cancer - the neck thing was some other thing thrown in the mix, but let me tell you, that made me quit cold turkey, and this was back in the early /mid 70s, before I even started smoking.

    Good for you my friend:supergrin:

  12. I smoked at age 14 for a few weeks because everyone around me smoked. I quit because I got nothing out of it. I actually smoked dope before tobacco. I've disliked the smell of weed and tobacco for a long time now.
Those candy cigarettes were pretty awesome though.

I tried smoking at a very young age because it must be the cool thing to do.

After the first couple puffs I said,
"This stucks. How could anyone think such a thing as smoking would make them appear to be anything but just another teen age idiot. Why would anyone do such a nasty thing to themselves.

Pretty much the same with drinking.

I was a 19 year old pipe smoker when they sent to Vietnam. Cigarettes were a lot easier to carry so I started. 28 years later I had a heart attack and quit. Easy to quit when you are hooked up to machines for a week!

I started when I was 17 because of a broad. I guess I thought picking up one of her bad habits would get me into her drawers. I was wrong. Quit when I was 22. Walked into a bar when I was 26 and ran into a bartender that I hadn't seen in a few few years and she lit up 2 cigarettes and handed me one. I told her I had quit 4 years ago and she replied "Aww, one isn't gonna get ya hooked!" I had a pack in my pocket when I walked out of that bar and it took me another 5 years to kick the habit again!

I started when I was 16, probably because everyone else did it. I quit 25 years later.

    That was 9 days ago.......
