I'd like to have more then 6 rounds and if I'm going to have to pay $400+ for a + shot revolver I'd rather invest that same amount in a 12+1 shot 40cal semi like the Sig or at least an 8+1 shot 45acp like the RIA. 9(or 13) will always beat 6.

I wonder how much a 642 goes for on the open market.

Guess I'll never find out since this one is working so well for EDC/CCW on a daily basis.:tongueout::supergrin:

 It called MY name, and I listened! Get the "Tactical", they have more doo-dads on them like a beavertail and ambidextrous thumb safety. Plus it says "Tactical" so it MUST be cool:rofl:

See, that's all the stuff I DON'T like on a 1911a1. Standard G.I. with the only changes being a flat main spring housing, decent sights and long, aluminum trigger and I'm good to go. Polish up the ramp and barrel throat and put some quality Wolff springs in it(20# main and 18# recoil IIRC) and I'll be happy as a clam.

    Frank,

    Buy the 1911!!!!

I still have one 1911 in my stable. (Gold Cup NM.) It will never be sold.

I was an IDIOT to sell my Combat Commander. :crying: It (to me) is the perfect carry-sized pistol.

I'm really thinking that the dream I had was kind of a clue to me as to what to do here, I mean I'd not thought about getting a 1911a1 until that dream.
Even with home cast 200gr SWC's the 45acp is still pretty effective so that's a plus and like I said, I know the gun inside and out having owned a few and even having built one from a parts kit. I'm vary comfortable taking one all the way apart for parts replacement and general stuff.

You're darned tootin' the 200 SWC is pretty effective!!!!

That's pretty much all I shoot in my Gold Cup!!
(Well, 'cept for my HD/SD loads.)

Love that 200 gr SWC #68 H&G cloned bullet!

Originally When John M. Browning designed the 45acp ctg. he wanted to use a 200gr bullet but the Army wanted a 230gr, go figure. I've always thought the 45acp really shinned with the 200gr bullet much more then the heavier bullets.
Guess I'm about 80% sure I'm going to go with a 1911a1 clone, probably the RIA and in the Commander size gun, like the looks and balance of the 4" barrel a bit better then the 5" but I'd not turn away a good RIA 5" Full Size if the price was right.

I think that I've heard that before Frank...just with the exactly opposite arguments. Like a month ago maybe...what happened with your Beretta in .40? That was exactly the gun You are looking for....now?!

It magically turned into an S&W 642 and $100 bucks cash. I had my priorities all mixed up, should have worked on EDC/CCW first then started looking for HD/Plinking second.
Now that I've got a nice EDC I can focus on HD.

Did You say that your wife can't rack the slide on the autos and that's why You are going with the revolver?
I mean...I'm slowly starting to think that there is no gun out there for You.

Nope, that wasn't me. My wife doesn't like semi-autos because you can't easily see if they're loaded or not but she can rack a slide just fine.
There are many guns out there for me, problem is I don't have the money to buy em' all.:tongueout:
