...So who does?
Looking to build a gun, or buy a built one?
Izhmash uses some very strong steel. I wore out 3 cobalt drill bits trying to
pass 4 or 5 mm through an Izhmash forged trunnion.
Well the reason AK works as good as it does is not an inherent concept but the fact that since it was fielded it underwent hundreds of changes in design and thousands of changes in production process. Sheer amount of work poured into the improvement of the final product over the decades is incredible and the way Soviet (Russian, whatever) system operates it will be the cold day in hell before the results are shared to the full extent. I suspect Izhmash might have a bit or two of an AK-making know-how that even licensed producers are not privy to not to mention US-based operations.
I concur - no one will outdo the original producers at thier own game. Izhmash!
