I got somewhat lucky on this one. The owner couldnt afford to buy a second gun for his wife, so I traded a couple of cheaper revolvers for it. It worked out well for both of us.

My RTF G19 locks up very tight, as the slide is pulled back, as in unloading, tighter than any of my other Glock pistols?

It does not make it any easier that the curves face the wrong way.

    Comments?

Hi all. I joined the forum to say thanks for the resource and add my RTF2 to the list. My brother in law, a deputy sheriff, was looking to sell his G23 and I figured it was a blue label when he said it had 3 mags. It wasn't until I got home that I saw the curved serrations and did some research, ending up here, that I even knew what an RTF2 was.

It's test fire date is 11/23/09 and serial starts with NYV.

I'm happy to see they are desirable and it makes $350 an even better price than I had thought. It's in excellent condition and I don't think he ever carried it. Not interested in selling it, for those who's wheels are turning.

    Thanks again

I recently acquired a 17 RTF2 with the fish gills. I stumbled across this thread looking for more information about production numbers.

I will try to remember to get the SN prefix and test fire date tonight and post the info tomorrow.

This is an excellent thread. Thanks!

    Glock 17 RTF2 with gills

    Prefix - PEP

    Test fire date - 01/12/11

Got this and a Beretta 92FS in trade for a Sig P226. It's NIB and never been fired. I was thinking about selling it but I might hold on to it for a little while.

Also, I've noticed that pretty much all of the RTF2's are 2009-2010 test fire dates.

Jan 2011 seems a little late. The OP mentions a 14 month run starting in May 2009 which would put the end of production around July 2010.

My basis for the length of run of the gilled RTF2's is a GLOCK announcement of RTF2's changing back to regular straight serrations around mid-2010. I speculate that at that time GLOCK stopped producing the gilled RTF2's but had old stock that were NOT released yet and were NOT test fired at Smyrna, GA till much later than June 2010, hence units with test fire date as late as Jan 2011.

I recently picked up a Storm Lake 9mm conversion barrel. I dropped it in the G23C for a test fit, and the combination of the gills and the brushed stainless peeking through the slide looks downright angry.

Did not Glock Austria know, that they had put the gills on backward?

I was offered a Para 45 valued near $1,000 for my 19 RTF2, it only took the time to type "no thanks" to turn it down!
