And what have you done? I haven't cast anything, but did get around to testing some in my .357 Sig, they shot sweetly. Lead whores, I command thee to come forth!

I take exception to being referred to as a 'lead whore'... I am a connoisseur of malleable metal possessing a low melting point that is suitable for transformation into a shaped projectile to be fired from a firearm, be it metallic cartridge or muzzle loading black powder.

Oh alright... I'm a lead whore. What do you want to know?

My last casting session was about 650 rounds of .451 225gr RNL from a Lyman 4 hole and about 300 rounds of .401 175gr TC from a Lyman 2 hole.

I also rendered about 75lbs of range lead into ingots.

My last casting session was around 600 bullets. I use a Lyman four cavity 200 grain SWC, 452460. I shoot these in my 1911 45 auto.

Awesome mold! I use that one most of all, and I shoot them through my 1911...

The last I cast were 40 and 45 HPs.
Cast quite a bit this summer and still have plenty of 40 175 gn TC and 200 gn 45 SWC's about 1/2 of the 40's are sized & lubed.

Did up about 400 or so 125 grain .358 cal using my Lee 6 banger mold. Winter is "casting season." Gonna cast all my lead supply this winter then get some lead berm minning done come spring.

Casted some 230 gr swc in 45 two weeks ago, was so damm cold in the garage that it was a bit of a hassle keeping the mold and the sprue hot. Rounds came out nice and shot well, about 300 of them.

I fired up my new Lee 6 hole 40 cal 175TC. WOW! It's my first 6 cavity mold. I just kept tossing ingots in my 10# pot and it would still be empty. I just cranked it up to the highest setting and slipped an ingot in after preheating them on top of the pot. There was always one on top, one melting down, and one going through the nozzel. It was like one of those westerns where they are shoveling coal into the firebox of the choo-choo to outrun the Injuns.

They ended up at 0.402-3" and chamber unsized in my Beretta96 and G27. So tumble lube unsized and downrange they go.

I also brought home 100# of range scrap which will give my about 75# or so of lead. The buckets are too much trouble to move around if they are more than 1/2 full. I go to the range at least once a week. There is all the lead I want yet I still feel compelled to overfill the buckets. I'm going to just leave the bucket in my pickup and take 30# only home with me each time I shoot. If I shoot 4# of lead each time and bring home 20-30# I'll be way ahead of the game. Wait, I am way ahead of the game already, I am a whore aren't I?

    Approx 1500 130gr .311's from Lyman #311410 two cavity, 500 .452's from Lee 6 cavity, and 400 or so .401's using Lee 6 cavity.

Lyman's 2 cavity dumps some very nice boolits but a 2 cavity is slow going.

    Cheers,
    Richard

Last night..cast 400..200 grain..from a Lyman 4 cavity 452460 mold and about 200 from a 4 cavity S&G 4 cavity mold also 200 grain for my 45 GAP. Yes i am a lead whore and proud of it. Been casting for over 25 years. If i cant shoot cast bullets through it i have no use for it.

Update: I'm making ingots as we speak. 30# so far and another 10# easily left in the pot and bucket to be melted. So my half bucket of range scrap is yielding an easy 40# of ingots and I have two of them. That's 3,000+ 40 cal pills from what will amount to a couple of hours of watching the Three Stooges (Tres Stagione for Jack) which are on AMC all day today.

I think I'll just do a bucket a week and stock pile ingots. I have enough bullets for a few months. It's easy to knock out a bucket of scrap even on my hotplate and 3qt stainless saucepot.

A few weeks back, with a surge of ambition, I melted down some wheelweights (about half of the contents were not lead) and mixed it in with some existing stock of ingots and cast some fine, if I do say so myself, 311008's. There's a Lee 308 mold w/o markings that puts out a gas-checked 200 grainer that looks like the Lyman 257418, too.
You know shooting has been sparse when all the brass is loaded and I have nothing left to reload. Heck...I've resorted to loading 30-30, 35 Rem. and a few others that I don't even shoot!
