I was looking for Federal HST ammo in S&W 40. I found two different versions. One is a plain black and white box, the other is a "tactical" colored box. Part numbers, XM40HC black and white, and P40HST1 colored box. What's the difference? :dunno:
  2. white and black box uses brass case while the tactical colored one uses nickel case. some say the white and black box is an overstocked LE contract ammo.. not too sure. I use it on my glock 27 and shoots great!

The tactical stuff should be way more powerful, esp if there's ninjas on the box.

Federal 180g HST (P40HST1) and 180g FMJs shoot the same IMO

as do the Federal 165g HST and 165g FMJs

I prefer the 180g mainly as I can get that the easiest,

Target shoot with the 180g FMJ, G22 and G27 and carry the 180g HST in the G27
