Of these rounds(9mm, 40 cal, .357 Sig) which do you think would be the best round to carry in a subcompact Glock?

The only answer is the caliber that you shoot the best. Accuracy at speed shooting controlled pairs. You must answer for your self. For me it's the G39 chambered in .45GAP.

I agree with the premise. The round you should carry is the one you can best do the job with. I like the .357 Sig in that platform, because if I miss them, the muzzle blast will certainly blind them, and the recoil is actually less (to me) than .40 in the same platform.

If I'm not carrying my G39, I'm carrying my G26. So, to answer your question, 9mm.

Another vote for 357, great round IMO, the worst thing is ammo availability, but I reload. Ballistics are great, even out of the subcompacts, especially compared to 9mm out of the same platform. Be aware muzzle blast is fierce, but not a deal breaker for me. I have a SIG P-239 DAO(not DAK) which I do well with, hits at 50 yards, but I grew up shooting D/A revolvers, but some of my friends do poorly with it-do much better with an XD 357 4". I got a great deal on the SIG as an LEO bought it, put one box through it, and traded it back, where it sat for a year as I told them it would never sell, then I finally got them to give me a deal on it(500$ OTD with night sights, box/man). Good hunting. 9mm would be my last choice.

I prefer 9mm. Its not the biggest or the best but it works for me and I like it. Your going to have to come to your own conclusion.

+1, i always wanted a .357sig have shot many but yesterday found My ultimate carry a Glock 32(.357sig) plus i have a G19 which i found was the same platform. The sig round feels very similar to +9 or +9+ depending on which brand you use. Plus launching a 125 gr vs a 165 or 180 gr will be noticed. Same way with rifles lighter grain is less felt recoil/muzzle rise.
Just as other shoot their calibers better. Thanks

thanks everyone for your input. I regularly carry a G33 with 124gr Speer Gold Dot. Just curious what people thought about the three rounds, because ballistics tables show the .357 Sig close to the .357 Mag.

The one you're comfortable shooting. In my opinion there's not enough difference between them to choose one over another, the shots either hit a vital area or they don't, either way they're all pretty similar to each other especially out of short barrels.

I personally prefer .40, a real bonus to having .40 is that during an ammo rush like we saw after the election, .40 is popular enough to still be on store shelves but not so popular it's gone.

.357sig. Is a 9mm magnum. Flatter shooting better penitration more energy. delivered to target no more recoil than 9mm +p+. More and more LE agencies are moving to the .357sig. Texas DPS is standard issue. Very few agencies use the 9mm notable agencies that do are LAPD NYPD and SFPD. Not because of effectivity but lower cost. Not one special units use this round. Most SWAT , Special Forces, or Federal governt special units use. .45 .40 or .357sig. And there is a good reason
The 9 is just not as effective. See link http://www.leatherneck.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21120

Best round to carry is the .357sig, best round to practice with is the 9mm. I went 9mm but always think I should have gotten the .357sig even though it would cost me more to shoot

.357 is my round of choice, i carry a 32 or 33. best for you to go with something you can shoot well and not what got the most votes.

  15. I'm looking to trade my full size 31 for a 33... I love this round and would love to be able to conceal it every day.

    They're all fine.

Which do you shoot best and which one offers you optimal recoil management and controllability?

While I would agree, in the G26 size platform, the 9mm is just that much easier to shoot well, next up would be the 357sig then the 40. I carry mine w/ BH 124gr+P, makes 1220fps in the short bbl.
