The thought sort of came to me when I was thinking about how much Hollywood glorifies gun violence in cinema and then turns around and disapproves of gun rights for law abiding citizens. Weird, huh?

Anyway, my vote goes to James Bond. He has at least a couple of one man army scenes in each movie and he puts people away almost indiscriminately... Plus if you add up all the kills from all the movies, I don't know that he can be topped.

    What do you think?

Stallone and Schwarzenegger have racked up some sizable body counts. Not sure if they're tops or not though.

He would also have the highest body count of any ambidextrous gunfighter.

Considering that most current heroes are played by fake tough guys who never actually killed anyone, and that Jimmy Stewart was an actual WW II bomber pilot who flew numerous combat missions, I'd say any character played by Jimmy Stewart killed the most people.

I'm going with The Governator. He had more killing sprees in movies than anyone I can think of.

Wow, I didn't know that. However, I intended for it to be the character, not the actor.

While you make an excellent point, it takes the fun out of this if we are going to be talking about real life. Funny about General Stewart, he probably killed less people than TJ Hooker on the screen.

I know, just being ornery. ;) As above, the Governator has gone on some serious rampages (the Terminator movies, Commando), but so has Stallone (Judge Dredd, the Rambo moves), Seline racks up an impressive body count in the Underworld movies despite her terrible gun-handling skills. :)

Actually I might need to change my answer to Neo from the Matrix. Although I would like to deny that the 2nd and 3rd movie ever existed, if you add up his kills from all three it would have to be a copious amount!

Watch the movie Cobra, with Stalone. The ending is just laughable! I bet Cobrettie (even has an action movie cliche name) kills more guys at the end than Bond has in his entire career! We only started counting at the end, but if I remember it may have been over 100, I am sure it tops 50.

The man who shot Liberty Valance, he was the toughest of them all.

But the Jati-Matic was a badass submachine gun though. Even the Red Dawn Russian colonel used one. AKs couldn't kill the Wolverines, had to break out the Finn man killing machine.

Yup, mass slaughter was really not his niche. He did play some fairly tough characters in a few westerns, though -- Winchester '73, The Man from Laramie, The Far Country, The Naked Spur and a few others but those were pretty tame by modern standards.

Eastwood is famous for his characters facing off against fairly small numbers of very bad men. His movies are great for the intensity of the conflicts as opposed to the sheer body counts.

I agree with that. I cant even remember a Clint Eastwood movie where he killed enough people for it to phase me. Plus, Clint Eastwood is an actor. For this to apply you would have to say Josie Whales, or Dirty Harry, etc...
