I have no need for another gun but lots of "want" for another gun. I started first thinking of a DW CCO for carry but my G26 seems to fit that bill perfectly for now. I love the black Valor but I see lots of love for the VBOBs. Its just a range toy and investment (lol), atleast thats how I justify these purchases. Im not concerned with weight, round capacity, concealability or style of sights. Being new to 1911s and DW, what would you suggest? Thanks in advance.

If weight and concealability are not an issue, I'd look at the Valor or Vbob.

But, if this is just going to be a range gun, I'd take a look at a few Les Baers if I were you. Dan Wessons are great guns, but they way their prices have gone up, I think certain Les Baer Models (like the Premier II) are a better deal now.

    Actually, they haven't gone up.

Baer is one of the very few that haven't recently and I feel they are a better value than Dan Wesson.

I really like the vbob myself. Probably the best looking 1911 out there IMO.

I have a SS Valor and like it quite a bit, after the price increase I did a lot of research and found a great deal on mine so just do your homework and you can find a DW at a much better price than Les Baer (I saved about $800.00). I saw a magazine with the new model the Specialist and that has my name writen all over it.

    $800 dollars difference seems excessive.

Which Les Baer were you looking at?

I was looking to get a custom carry no FS and different sights and after those options it was about $2100.00 vs the Valor exactly how I wanted for $1250.00 OTD.

That's a great price on a Valor these days.

+1 Man, and i paid more than that for my DWCCO. Was gonna get a TRP. But i got what i wanted, does it have a checkerd front strap, no. But no fs,no lock, and has night sights, and it's for ccw. So i'm happy.

I'd go with a VBOB. Though I'm probably biased, since I carry a CBOB.

I'm personally looking forward to the ECO to replace my Ultra Carry II in the future. If your looking for a pure range toy, I'd look into a Valor, although it would be excellent as a HD or carry gun if you where to use it for such purposes. Best to get a full size 5" Government model it it's your first 1911 IMO.

I know the OP mentioned the Valor and the VBOB, but how about the DW Heritage? If your patient enough you can find them new on Gunbroker or Gunsamerica for $999, add a pair of Sarge or VZ and I think you have a great 1911 for the money. Just my $0.02.

  19. This ....

Or you could find a used DW PM-7 for about the same price.... or less...
