Preferably out of a 2 inch barrel. I'm going to Alaska and want to make sure I'm safe from those zodiac bears.
You guys need to step your game up, I had to create a 9mm vs 45 thread AND a bear vs pocket gun thread. Jeez this sub-forum is slacking!

  2. I read on the internet that most of the Alaskan guides carry OD green Ket-Tec P-32s with the Fiocchi 73 grain FMJ 'bear load'.

If all else fails and you are between the mama and her cub, put the barrel to the temple and pull the trigger. At least you will go painlessly.

Thank god the OP is not being serous. when i read this thread i coated my laptop in my drink :-D

. Why go with a .32 get a .25 or a .22. Youll be just fine! its a huge myth that bears require bullets to kill. you can actually do it with kindness :-D

I was glad to see that this was a joke, too.

Yeah, that's right, encourage him to do a thread about the .25ACP vs. bears.

Forget about the zodiac bears. You need to worry about the bi-polar bears..

Guys, the .32 acp is the only gun I can afford. Never mind the thousands I'm spending on the trip up to alaska, I can't afford to fork over some more cash for a .44 magnum or up.

What .32 acp +P+ load would match the .44 magnum?

What if the bears have really thick fur?

Buffalo Bore has a hardcast 75gr FN that makes ~950fps from a 2.5 inch barrel. You could probably just email them and ask them to double or quadruple charge the case with powder... which we all know should double or quadruple your velocity. That should give an honest 3800fps from your 2.5 inch barreled pocket pistol. Which will give you a power factor of 285. Which is totally on par with a full power 44 Magnum load pushing a 240-grain bullet to 1,200 fps, for a 288 PF.

And since it's a hardcast bullet, no need to worry about fur or anything clogging your HP. :whistling:

Well all I'm using is a hi-point. I heard they can't hanlde +p n stuff. Is there anyway I can get a loading with that kind of power factor, but without the extra pressure?

Bi-polar bears? You got to load your .32's with Lithium batteries.

Shoot 'em with that! Guaranteed to kill or cure!:tongueout:

I have the answer that you are looking for, man.

It's simple really. You wanna "economize" and "man-up", but you don't have the cash for an appropriate caliber like the .44 Mag or better, yes?

It's easy. Just buy, or better yet "borrow" from a friend who reloads, a few .44 Magnum bullets and manually insert them into the bear during the "encounter". Now that's how real men do it!

The 32acp is just to big and heavy to pack around in the out back, and has way to much recoil, really scares me.

So when I am in big bruin country, I carry this !

Tremendous "knock down power" ! I really suggest you use this on bear ! Make sure you use the 22MAG FMJ loads. Drops them in their tracks... DRT ! :whistling:
