Finding quality components for AR builds is becoming more of a test of patience these days, and although not expecting things to get better, figured I'd reach out...

I have a couple of builds in process, missing only stripped upper receivers at this point. Preferably, requirements would start with Cerro Forge, M3 flat top with M4 feedramps, and quality manufacturing in fit and finish. Unmarked is also required, my own personal preference. However, slight variations in color between upper and lower are not a concern.

BCM is a given, as they have exceptional quality control, unfortunately they've been out of stock for months now.

CDNN is selling an Adcor with same specs, however I am not familiar with their QC. While I do know they hold government contracts, anyone familiar with fit and finish of Adcor Defense?

I have also considered Palmetto State Armory- aside from current out of stock, could not find details as to who forges their uppers, whether they are finished on site or by the likes of L.W. Schneider... PSA is understandably tight-lipped with regards to specifics.

Any insight provided would be much appreciated, I am anxious to get my build on.

I've bought a couple YHM uppers and they were GTG.

I have a stripped unmarked PSA upper and it is marked 'DSA' right about the gas tube opening.

The unmarked upper that came with my complete PSA upper does not have the DSA mark.

If I'm not mistaken, the DSA mark found on your PSA upper is Cardinal Forge. Thanks for the scoop.

I looked into YHM, but appears they are currently out of stock most places as well. I have heard decent things about Yankee Hill Machine QC.

I've just received word with regards to CMMG stripped uppers, which I have found in stock, aside from unpainted T marks, none other than Cerro keyhole. I have yet to use their products in my builds though...

That's quite a low price, looks to be Cerro too... will have to look into further...

EDIT: it's listed on website as "Exclusive Aero Precision Direct Dealer", I would assume upper may be finished by Aero

I just got a YHM upper from Brownell's and it was GTG.

Edited to add: it had the keyhole marking, if that is what you are looking for, but was otherwise unmarked.

Figured I will give YHM a shot, thanks.

One down two more to go...

EDIT: the YHM fits tight on each of the 3 PSA lowers I am working on, however I wouldn't be able to get it on the fourth, a Noveske Gen 2, without a mallet. Although I am content with the finishing quality, nice crisp edges, very little tool marks on the YHM... might hold off until I can get my hands on another option :dunno:

I bought a BCM blemished upper a couple months ago for $80 and couldn't find a scratch on it. CMT uppers are around if your look. They make Stag and Colt stuff. Look on the equipment exchange on AR15.com

CMT offers a good upper, from what I recall may also be purchased through BCM. Would like to buy new if possible, although have bought blems in past with no issues.

From what I can tell, availability may open up a bit next month... in the meantime, guess I will have to camp on it.

Curious, who is currently forging Stag uppers? Cardinal or Cerro?

EDIT: Reading back into the thread and checking around, Rainier has a better photo on their site, looks to be Cerro. Not sure Stag components would complete a mil spec build though... will have to look into further.

I bought a Surplus Arms stripped upper and all parts fit with no problem and matched up to my lower with very little play. Although, it had T marks and the American Flag laser etched on the top rail but is covered if you install a rear sight.

Just checked. Since at this point I have a couple BCM barrels with M4 feedramps, stripped uppers to pair still no dice.
I'm currently on the email list for a few items from Rainier... at least until I can scratch the itch otherwise.
