Miss it, but got tired of being a stranger to my kids.
Horseboss, I was suppossed to go to the Forrestal and a friend swapped with me so he could reenlist tax free. He was trapped below decks quite awhile. I was with Vap-61 and we changed to what ever carrier was on the line, mostly Enterprise and Constellation. We lost a destroyer during SEATO operations, the Evans zigged when it should have zagged and the Austalian aircraft carrier cut it in half in the middle of the night. They towed it to Vietnam and used it for a helo pad. We picked up the survivors early the next morning.

USN 1974-80. Sonar Tech and amateur Gunner's mate on two old DD-710-class destroyers. Vietnam 1975 (Apr 28th Evacuation). Then a reserve can out of Newport, RI - USS Vogelgesang (DD-862) 1978-80.
1979-2002. navy reserve. Amcs(aw)-retired

US Navy 1971-1992. Retired as Boatswains Mate 1st. Was one hell of a ride! 14 1/2 years of that was sea duty. I miss it every day, except for the time in "Injun Country". I'd do it all again, if I could.
